If You Think – You Stink! Golf isn’t hard to play. It is hard to be good at, but not hard to play. In fact it is so very simple. Hit a ball with a stick, go get the ball, hit it again and again until you get it in the hole. You know why it seems to be so hard? Because we THINK it should be hard and we THINK too much and make it hard. You want to play golf? Here’s all you need to do. Find someone to teach you how to grip the club; how to position the ball; where to put your feet; how to swing the club; how to make center face contact between the club and the ball every time. That’s it! Those are the things you should think about and you should only think about them prior to swinging. When you have all those elements together, simply swing the club without thinking about it and watch how wonderful a shot you can hit. The Golf Guys do our part for local charity! We want to thank out buddy Randy Scalf, the Caddie for the Pete dye Course at French Lick for the invite to play in the annual Caddie Charity Scramble. This year we played for an organization named “Granted” which is a charity out of Evansville Indiana that grants wishes to sick children. We played 36 holes at The Lucas Oil Golf Course in English Indiana and had a terrific time. We want you to listen close to our guests, both Rabdy and Jeff Perdue from the Granted Charity. Practice for the moment! That’s the advice Jeff Smith, the #1 golf instructor in the state of Indiana has on this week’s episode of Those Weekend Golf Guys. Oh sure, there will be plenty of funny and entertaining stories about John’s rather difficult round at a course called Purgatory but then Jeff gets serious with advice on how to practice for the moment. Remember when you were a kid shooting hoops in the driveway? It was always “no seconds on the clock and you have to sink the free throws to win”, wasn’t it Or when you were taking batting practice and it was bottom of the ninth, 2 outs, bases loaded and down by 3 runs. As kids we knew enough to put ourselves, mentally, in pressure positions when we practice. Jeff has many ideas on how to do that now with your golf range time. We give you some ideas on some games to use to add some elements of pressure to your practice. Set up scenarios that are more difficult than normal. Try to create scenarios you might see on the course. Practice for the moment.
