In today’s episode, the incredibly gifted Julie Nuzzo shares her magic with us. When I first met Julie at HOME POWER YOGA in Cranford, NJ, there was an immediate connection. Not only does Julie have such a beautiful, calming presence about her, but when I found out that she was also a nurse, BOOM!, there was that instant nurse bond!
Julie moves through the studio with such grace and elegance, as well as being firmly rooted in her knowledge and strength in the yoga practice. Julie would many times be in class being the hands-on (pre Covid!) adjuster, coming around and gently helping you dive deeper into your pose. Julie’s hands and heart are definitely not only a gift in the yoga studio, but Julie has also been an intensive care unit nurse for the last 16 years. Julie’s knowledge from her nursing career and love for overall health helped inspire her to pursue her yoga teacher training.
In today’s episode, we talk about being an ICU nurse and the heart and soul, and self-care, that is so needed when working in such a high-stress and high-burnout area; as well as the lessons that Julie has learned as a nurse and how she brings those lessons onto her mat.
Once you hear Julie’s voice and her passion for nursing and yoga, I’m sure you will find yourself following her absolutely beautiful Instagram page and if you’re lucky enough to be in her area, potentially taking one of her yoga classes!
So, grab your cozy drink and get settled in for an episode that’ll calm your heart and your mind and inspire you to break out that yoga mat (or go buy one on Amazon!) Enjoy!!!
Here is some more information about the incredible Julie Nuzzo:
Julie knows first hand the art of compassion in the medical industry. For the past 16 years, she has built her career in neonatal and pediatric critical care, but most recently spent 4 months of 2020 as a frontline worker in adult intensive care units. Fueling her passion for anatomy and overall health and well being, she decided that after practicing yoga for 14 years, she would learn how to teach it! Always a fitness and health enthusiast, she was forever changed by regular, disciplined practice and wants to share the impact power yoga has on our physical and mental health with as many as possible. In addition to currently working on becoming a nurse practitioner in psychiatry, she obtained her 200 hour Registered Yoga Alliance certification training in 2019. Catch her live teaching at AMP Yoga in Springfield NJ on Tuesday mornings and follow her Instagram handle @julienuzzo for information on in-studio and private instruction.
