It’s our last episode for 2018, and we start out the evening with a bottle of Atrevida-Malbec.  Yvette discusses the Breeze Knoll murders, listen and find out how John List eludes capture and justice for 18 years.  Alma ends our podcast year with the origin story of Krampus and how he became synonymous with Christmas and St. Nick.

 

 

The ladies start the evening with Stiletto-Chateah Lettau….not to be confused with Yvette’s Big Toe, not but really a lovely fan gift from Kelli. Yvette discusses the horrifying story of the Beast of Jersey, a serial rapist, that terrorized a small island of Jersey during a twelve year span. Alma delves into the story of the Buckner Building, Whittier Alaska, a cold war monolithic building that used to house the military and is said to be haunted.

This week Alma finds herself without her partner in crime Yvette, so Mario, Alma’s son keeps Yvette’s seat warm and helps out with the True Crime segment. Starting out the evening with a glass of Disaronno, with a tad bit too much sour, Mario discusses an early 1900’s serial killer only known as the Axeman of New Orleans.  With a penchant for Axe’s, Jazz and Italian households, this killer terrorizes a budding New Orlean’s community for about a year starting in May 1918.  Alma takes on the mysterious circumstances that surround the deaths of nine hikers in February 1959 in the Northern Ural mountains in the then Soviet Union.

It’s opposite day and the girls start off the evening with Ancient Roots, Dark Red Blend 2014.  Alma takes her turn with the tragic story of Michele Avila who was brutally betrayed by two of her supposed best friends in a 1985, case of teenage angst and jealousy gone wrong. We all know how much Yvette loves ghost stories, this week she discusses the strange happenings at the Yuma Territorial Prison in Arizona and the colorful characters that once took up residence there.   Find out what happens to people that enter the Dark Cell…

We start off the evening with our glasses full of Witching Hour Reserve, Deep Red Blend 2014. Yvette takes on the tragic and brutal 1991 murder of 15 year old Jessica Lyn Keen.  Her murder takes place in Foster Chapel Cemetery in West Jefferson, Ohio.  Alma tells a few tales of ghosts and specters that still reside in a 170 year old cemetery in Guadalajara, Mexico, known as El Panteon De Belen or The Santa Paula Cemetery.

 

 

The gals prepare for Halloween and for a gruesome evening with Vampire Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, produced by Vampire Vineyards. As we said it was going to be gruesome so prepare yourself, our first story is not for the faint of heart, so consider this your trigger warning. Yvette has a true crime story from 1977, Sacramento California about serial killer/vampire Richard Trenton Chase, whose brief, but barbarous murder spree leaves a small Sacramento community in terror. Alma tries her best to lighten the mood with the ghostly tale of the Bell Witch of Tennessee, and how over a period of three years it terrorizes an Adams, Tennessee family, and possibly is responsible for at least one death.

With Halloween on it’s way the ladies prep for their evening with the promised whiskey Proper Twelve, and then top off with a delicious french wine, Hob Nob Wicked Red Blend, which is Awe-Su-Amie (awesome).Yvette gets right into her bloody good story about the exploits of Magdalena Solis, the self proclaimed high priestess of a blood thirsty cult in small Mexican town in the early 1960’s.  Alma decides to tell another creepy doll story, this time it is about the 115 year old Robert The Doll, who may or may not be cursed, and the creepy sh*t he was up to during all those years.  Let’s just say he has a mind of his own, and you better be nice to him or else.

 

The ladies start out the night with a California Red Wine, The Walking Dead Blood Red Blend 2015. As they promised they switched things up a bit and this time Alma started the story telling with the creepy story of the grave robbing Ed Gein and his ghoulish exploits. Yvette then proceeds to scare the living daylights out of Alma, which she took a little delight in, with her freaky and haunted tale of Zozzaby The Clown. They end the evening on a serious note discussing an HBO documentary called I Am Evidence, with Mariska Hargitay, which examines the frustrating and very real problem of rape kit backlog. Melodramatic is the tone of the evening, and also the name of the wine the ladies are sipping on for this episode. It’s actually a wine by Melodramatic, 2015 Darkness, a California Red, and the perfect wine to kick off October.  In the mood for some 1980’s chillers, Yvette recounts her weekend movie night with her daughter which inspires her story.  When A Stranger Calls is inspired by the real life 1950 murder of 13 year old Janett Christman, who was brutally murdered while babysitting for her neighbors.  Alma dives into her October inspired tale discussing the real life Salem Witch Trial that took place in 1692 colonial Massachusetts and the ghosts that were left behind.

 

The ladies start out the evening reminiscing about their adventures in Sedona over the weekend, while sipping on Three Thieves a California Red Cabernet.  And things take a serious turn , on the heals of Christine Blasey-Ford testimony before congress, the ladies discuss the testimony and their own experiences growing up.  Yvette discusses the terrifying murder spree of Julio Perez Silva in Alto Hospicio, Peru in 1998-2001.  Alma tells the grisly account of the New Mexico Penitentiary Prison riot in early 1980 and the negative residual energy left behind in the now abandoned prison.
