This month we are discussing how to adjust to the new norm due to COVID-19. In this episode, we discussed how to budget. It is good to make sure we are not living above our means, putting away 10% of our income into saving, investing to build wealth, getting life insurance, shop around, and more. We also discussed creating a routine for our kids in order to give them some type of normalcy during this pandemic. It is imperative to have a bedtime routine set for them, prepare the night before, try and wake up 10-15 min before them in order to enjoy some quiet times and etc.

As a believer of Christ, you can not be ok with everything that has been going on. The Bible says to mourn with those who morn, and to rejoice with those who rejoice. It also says to love our neighbors as ourselves. Even if you don't know what to do, it would be wise to go before God to pray and figure out what it is that you can do to become a part of the change that is needed. We can't stand around and say this has nothing to do with us. We ought to be each other's keeper. If as a believer what's going on doesn't move you, I have to question your salvation. I have to question where you stand.

The story of 19 year old Toyin is a heartbreaking one. This young woman who was so zealous to see justice for the men in the black community didn't find one person to stand up for her on her last day. A woman who stood and protested for equality didn't find anyone to stand for her life. This young woman was raped. She went to seek out help from the police, the church, and even went on twitter, asking for help. No one helped her and she ended up being murdered at the end. This is not ok. This is not right. Many are fighting for the justice and equality of our black men, But who is fighting for our black women?
Ladies, may this be a wake-up call for us to make sure we get some self-defense classes, buy a mace, a pocket knife, or something to protect ourselves. Gentlemen, may you all truly become the protector you are called to be for the ladies. May this be a lesson all for us to care for one another, be one another's keeper. Most of all, may we learn to treat each other with respect and dignity.

I know it is not easy to have certain conversations with our kids, especially when it comes to racism and discrimination. There are parents who worry about exposing their children to these issues at an early age. Others don't want to talk about it because they themselves might not fully understand or don’t feel comfortable discussing it.
These types are conversations will be different for everyone. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach, the science is clear: the earlier parents start the conversation with their children the better.
Babies notice physical differences, including skin color, from as early as 6 months. Studies have shown that by

Despite our skin color differences, we all bleed the same. What is going on right now is not only social and racial injustice, it is also a lack of sympathy for a human race. We have placed the value of animals higher than that of a group of people based on skin color. We know all lives matter, but at this moment we just need the help of all races with #blacklivesmatter, because black lives are in danger.
Police brutality is not new. A mom should not be afraid to send her son out, due to fear of him being killed by cops, just because he is black. Yes, there are good cops, but bad company corrupts good character. The black community has been oppressed for years. The police departments have gotten away with killing our black people for years. we are tired, we #cantbreath, we need the help of all caucasian male/female to stand, to speak up and recognize we are equal.
We need all those in the police department who has been oppressing our people to be held responsible. It should be justice for all, not for some. we can no longer accept this systematic racism and prejudice that's been going on. We need the police to get their knee off of our neck!

Your mental health is wealth. Mental health includes your emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act with ourselves and others. Take care of yourself by practicing self-care. Self-care looks like doing something that relaxes your mind and body. Something you enjoy. For example, going for a nice walk, writing exercising, reading a book, playing music, etc.
Take necessary brain breaks. Connect with someone when you need support. You do not have to suffer in silence. You matter. You are important. You are needed. It’s not uncommon to feel like you are experiencing challenges alone. one and five people live with a mental health condition. Help is available and symptoms can be alleviated. Increasing one’s education and advocating for mental health can help break the stigma.

Therapy is not for those we consider "crazy". Do not allow the fear of being labeled to hinder you from feeling better. You do not have to go with the first therapist you find. It is ok to ask questions to those you know have been to therapy and to the therapist you may find. Speak with few, read reviews, get a sense of who the person is, and if they're a good fit for you. Mental health care is healthcare. The same way you take care of your physical body, you should take care of your mind as well. Be open to the experience. It may be uncomfortable to an extent, but try to remember that it is for the betterment of yourself.
