Episode 150: Dr. Ingrid Liu of Progressive Health Primary Care - Oak Park, IL
Dr. Ingrid Liu is the owner and director of Progressive Health Primary Care, PLLC. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, her osteopathic medical degree at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed her residency at the West Suburban Hospital Family Medicine residency in Oak Park. Dr. Liu chose family medicine for its diversity, patient-centric approach, and exposure to different cultures. She worked in various medical settings but eventually transitioned to concierge medicine to focus more on patient care.
In 2014, she joined Partner md, a concierge medicine group, to open their first Chicago area office. Despite more time for patient care, she still faced insurance-related challenges. In February 2020, during the pandemic shutdown, Dr. Liu founded Progressive Health Primary Care, a direct primary care practice in Oak Park. She is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of several medical organizations. Dr. Liu has deep roots in the Chicago area and enjoys running, travel, music, and cooking in her free time.
In this episode...
Dr. Ingrid Liu shares her journey from traditional fee-for-service medicine to direct primary care (DPC). She discusses the lack of business training in the medical field and the burnout she experienced, which led her to transition to concierge medicine before ultimately embracing DPC.
