We enjoy a ride on a heritage railway, a spectacular journey that follows the south coast from Victor Harbour to Goolwa, and spend a day exploring the beautiful Adelaide Hills region soaking up the German culture in the quaint village of Hahndorf.

We manage to remove most of the Outback from the back of the truck before the team at Mildura 4x4 install a canopy, long range fuel tank and double battery system, while we spend our days camping on the banks of the Murray river in Buronga, New South Wales.

When the Hilux is complete we hit the road west for Renmark, a beautiful port side town in South Australia’s riverlands, before continuing our journey to Adelaide to have the GVM upgrade finalized with the engineers.

We set up camp just south of the city, at Brighton Beach and fall in love with this quaint seaside village.

This week we complete our Sturt Steps adventure, departing Packsaddle for Broken Hill, to enjoy a couple of starry nights at one of our favourite off grid campsites, the Living Desert. 

We set up camp at a new favourite spot on the water at Copi Hollow and enjoy a great lunch at the Maiden Hotel, a significant landmark for the Burke and Wills expedition in 1860.

Plus we spend a great day exploring Kinchega National Park and enjoy a cruise on the lakes before making our way back to Mildura.

We say goodbye to Tibooburra and set up camp in Milparinka, the Outback gold mining town that time forgot, immersing ourselves in the rich history and enjoying one of our most memorable family experiences to date.

We overnight at Pincally Sheep Station, an incredible and unexpected oasis in the Outback and spend our last night free camping miles from anywhere with fellow travellers at the Packsaddle Roadhouse.

We’ll be discovering incredible landscapes from Charles Sturt’s 1845 expedition in search of an inland sea, and the Outback towns that now bring life and character to this remote region.

We set up camp in Tibooburra in the far north west, and day trip to Cameron Corner where Australia’s famous dingo fence meets the borders of Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales.

This drive journey is sure to inspire you to venture into the Outback!

This week we say goodbye to the Great Ocean Road and camp beachside on Victoria’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula.

We take the Hilux and caravan by ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento, an easy 40 minute trip that saves the drive through Melbourne city, and enjoy a week at the Whitecliffs campsite, on the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay.

This week we experience one of the world’s most scenic coastal drives, along The Great Ocean Road.

We say goodbye to Mount Gambier, South Australia, and travel to the little seaside town of Peterborough on Victoria’s south west coast, and indulge in a delicious foodie discovery of cheese, whisky and ice cream in the quaint village of Timboon.

We take in all the highlights of the spectacular wild and windswept southern ocean and make our way to one of the most incredible off grid campsites we have ever stayed.

We explore the geological wonderland of Mount Gambier, on the impressive Limestone Coast of South Australia.

This incredibly beautiful and unique region boasts over 800 lava caves and 50 sinkholes, formed over 5000 years ago from volcanic eruptions. We enjoy some of the best including the beautiful Umpherston Sinkhole, truly a magical experience, and Paul dives into one of Australia’s most incredible natural wonders at Kilsby Sinkhole. Regarded as one of the best cave diving sites in the world, this is one of our favourite experiences from our travels to date! 

Plus, we camp beside the crater of an ancient volcano at the spectacular Blue Lake to make the most of our time exploring Mount Gambier.

We board the historic Rothbury Paddle Steamer for a lunchtime tour downstream through Loch 11, and have the opportunity to witness the final stages of harvest when we catch up with one of Australia’s most successful wine grape growers.

We soak up the sunshine across the Easter long weekend, indulge in too many chocolate eggs thanks to the Easter Bunny, and fill our days with activities on and around the river.
