True Crime Guys

Documentary: ReMastered: "The Two Killings of Sam Cooke" on Netflix

Sam Cooke was a star as big as they come, with roots in gospel music, soon even the Lord couldn't hold him, and Sam shared hit talents with the world. Naturally he became a huge success, known all over the world, and started to gain something more powerful than money, he began to have influence and to stand up for his beliefs, rubbing shoulders with Muhammad Ali, and Malcolm X, all the while ignoring blatant threats from the KKK as well as the mob. Everything was coming to a head just before the release of his hit single "A Change Is Gonna Come", when Sam was found shot to death just outside his hotel room. The timing is more than a little strange. There's more than meets the eye in the killing of Sam Cooke.

*This episode includes a cover/mashup of Sam Cooke's "Chain Gang" and "Wonderful World"

Over the years Lori Vallow's religious beliefs got more and more extreme. She began to believe that the end times were near and that Jesus would soon make his return to Earth. So she teamed up with a cult leader and offed most of her family... oh, then the world didn't end of course...awkward.

Just because someone tells you that they want to die, that doesn't mean that you get to take it upon yourself to oblige' them.. Especially to fulfill your own sick sick fantasies..

Armin Meiwes had similar motivations as Jeffrey Dahmer- wanting to keep possession of other humans forever- even if that meant consuming them, as to make them a part of themselves.

but first...

A Japanese Killer that preyed on young suicidal people by connecting with them on the internet; mainly Twitter. Not allowing them the chance to get through their rough patch or the chance to seek professional help.

Marvin Gabrion was a lifetime criminal, and murderer who was given the death penalty in Michigan...except Michigan doesn't have the death penalty, but for Marvin, they made an exception.

We haven't touched much on exorcisms on this podcast; most likely because we're admittedly skeptical of the supernatural. But exorcisms are a dangerous undertaking, that often result in either the subject or people around the subject being harmed..

This weeks case is a prime example of an exorcism gone wrong...this is the case of Michael Taylor.
