Tonight at 6pm ET the state of Florida continues its record setting trend of executions, with the planned lethal injection of Daniel Conahan, Jr, also known as “The Hog Trail Killer.” Conahan will die for the 1996 murder of 21-year-old Richard Allen Montgomery, but he’s suspected in the murders of at least 12 other men in the area. Police say he lured young men with the promise of a couple hundred dollars, to pose nude in bondage photos. Then, according to authorities, Conahan would tie them up in the woods, strangle them and mutilate their genitalia.

Most of us have seen the frightening warning made by an AI researcher who left his position at Anthropic because of his concerns for the world’s safety given the increasing capabilities of artificial intelligence. Andrew and Tristan Tate will remain behind bars in a Florida prison while continuing to fight extradition to the UK where the self proclaimed misogynist brothers are facing nearly 60 charges of sex crimes.  Romania just added additional charges agains the Tates late last week, including trafficking minors, sex with a minor, witness tampering and money laundering. There are all sorts of issues with President Trump’s stunning, and unconventional promise at Wednesday’s Republican midterm convention. Trump announcing that “If the Republicans win, you win," promising every U.S. adult citizen $5,000 if Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate come November. Trump describing the cash payout like a successful company that gives a cash distribution to its shareholders. Obviously it’s illegal to influence votes, but even if this offer falls into a legal loophole, it’s still unclear how Trump would pay for the $1.2 trillion dollars the offer would cost, and if the outcome of recent financial promises are any indication… your check won’t be in the mail anytime soon, if ever.

The reaction has been mixed, following Phoebe Bridgers red carpet appearances at the Venice Film Festival. Bridgers has been both praised and shamed by fans for not only revealing her massive pit stain on the red carpet just days after showing her leg hair on the red carpet. It’s been a debate for decades now, going all the way back to 1999 and Julia Roberts’ arm pit hair reveal during her red carpet appearance at the London premiere of ’Notting Hill.” Two years ago, Dove had a #FreeThePits campaign, encouraging women to be confident regardless of their underarm choices… but just how far have we come?

The President made yet another questionable claim about his experience and involvement during and in the aftermath the 9/11 attacks while honoring first responders at an event in DC on Tuesday.  Trump claims two strong fireman lifted him up and pulled him from a building because of fears that the United States Steel building might come crashing down. The problem, fact checkers maintain that Trump was actually at Trump Towers at the time of the attack, which is several miles away from the “creaky building” which he described as “not so far from us.”  This is just the latest in a series of conflicting and erroneous comments the President has made over the years regarding his involvement and recollection of his role, but Trump has fired back at his critics in a lengthy Truth Social post, insisting it’s all “fake news.”
