One of the most anticipated films of the year, “Michael” hits theaters this weekend and previews are already showing a record number of people filling theaters for a musical biopic. The reviews, however, have not been kind to the film. The biggest issue, that the movie is basically an extended music video of Jackson’s early hits and completely sidesteps the allegations and charges of child sexual abuse that plagued the singer for decades. There’s an explanation for that omission and a heavy hint that there’s more to come in a potential sequel. The question is whether the film is too much of a fairy tale, complete with a happily ever after ending… a question that has even divided members of Jackson’s own family.

The sheriff who has become the national face of the Nancy Guthrie investigation, is now legally defending himself against growing accusations of misconduct. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is under fire for not being honest about his past work history, including 8 reported suspensions while working as an officer in El Paso. Among the allegations, that he nearly beat a handcuffed suspect to death with a flashlight. A process to remove the sheriff could begin as early as mid-May, as the investigation into Guthrie’s disappearance continues.

The long awaited autopsy report was finally released by the medical examiner and it showed a brutal and gruesome death for 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Singer D4vd is due back in court today, pushing prosecutors to reveal the evidence they have against him, as he maintains his innocence. Two doctoral students at the University of South Florida went missing within one hour of each other and police are now asking for the public’s help. 27-year-old Zamil Limon and Nahida Bristy were last seen separately on and near campus on the morning of April 16th. Police say their phones are turned off and there is no digital footprint to follow. Friends, family and the university all say these are responsible students who would never voluntarily go awol.
