  • Lindsay Clancy Trial Day 11 | Was She Overmedicated? Psychiatric Care Under Fire

Day 11 of the Lindsay Clancy trial put her psychiatric treatment and medication history under intense scrutiny. Jurors heard extensively from psychiatric nurse practitioner Rebecca Jollotta, who treated Lindsay during the months before the deaths of Cora, Dawson and Callan. Jollotta testified about Lindsay’s severe insomnia, anxiety, feelings of numbness and detachment, medication concerns and episodes of suicidal thinking. She said that despite Lindsay’s worsening symptoms, she never observed Lindsay displaying psychosis or expressing a plan to harm her children.

The defense focused heavily on possible gaps in Lindsay’s care. Jollotta acknowledged that she did not obtain records from all of Lindsay’s other psychiatric providers, and testimony revealed that a specialized postpartum program had concerns Lindsay might be overmedicated—information that Jollotta apparently did not receive or pursue at the time. The jury also heard about repeated medication changes, Lindsay’s fear of becoming dependent on Ativan, and her increasingly desperate attempts to find something that would allow her to sleep and feel normal again.

Join True Crime Squad as we break down the biggest moments from Day 11, the testimony of Lindsay’s psychiatric providers, Kevin Reddington’s cross-examination, the questions surrounding coordination of her care, and what this evidence means for the central issue facing the jury: Was Lindsay Clancy criminally responsible, or had her mental illness deteriorated to the point that she could no longer appreciate the wrongfulness of her actions?

  • Lindsay Clancy Trial Day 10 | Psychiatrist Grilled Over Treatment & Medications

Day 10 of the Lindsay Clancy trial centered on an intense and at times contentious cross-examination of Dr. Jennifer Tufts, the psychiatrist who treated Lindsay from September 2022 until just before the deaths of Cora, Dawson and Callan. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington challenged Tufts about her experience, Lindsay's medications, the completeness of the medical information available to her, and how she assessed Lindsay's worsening psychiatric symptoms. Tufts acknowledged that she did not have Lindsay's complete medical record while treating her.

Reddington's questioning focused heavily on whether warning signs were missed and whether Lindsay's rapidly changing medication regimen could have contributed to her deterioration. The exchanges became tense enough that Judge William Sullivan intervened at points during the questioning, including instructing Tufts to allow Reddington to finish his questions before answering. Prosecutors later worked to provide context for Tufts' treatment decisions and Lindsay's own reports to her providers. Tufts ultimately completed her testimony after spending hours under cross-examination.

Join True Crime Squad as we break down the biggest moments from Day 10, Reddington's aggressive cross-examination, Lindsay's psychiatric treatment and medication history, and what Dr. Tufts' testimony could mean when jurors ultimately decide the central issue in this case: Was Lindsay Clancy criminally responsible for killing her three children, or was she suffering from a severe mental illness that prevented her from appreciating the wrongfulness of her actions?

    5 hr 12 min
  • Lindsay Clancy Trial Day 9 | Psychiatrists Reveal Her Mental State

Day 9 of the Lindsay Clancy trial shifted heavily into the psychiatric treatment Lindsay received in the weeks and months before the deaths of Cora, Dawson and Callan. Jurors heard from Dr. Alia Goodheart of McLean Hospital and Dr. Jennifer Tufts, Lindsay’s outpatient psychiatrist, about her worsening depression, anxiety, severe insomnia, suicidal thoughts, medication changes and whether she ever displayed signs of psychosis. Both doctors testified that they did not observe Lindsay to be psychotic during the periods they treated her.

The defense challenged those assessments, focusing on Lindsay’s escalating symptoms, her calls to a suicide hotline, medication changes and the adequacy of her psychiatric care. Dr. Goodheart testified that Lindsay was considered a low/minimal safety risk when discharged from McLean, while Dr. Tufts described Lindsay as “depressed and flat” just one day before the killings, although Lindsay denied suicidal or homicidal thoughts. Tufts’ testimony continued into Day 10.

Join True Crime Squad as we break down the crucial psychiatric testimony from Day 9, the prosecution and defense questioning, Lindsay’s treatment history and what these doctors’ observations could mean for the central question of the trial: Was Lindsay Clancy criminally responsible for killing her children, or was she suffering from a mental illness severe enough to meet Massachusetts’ standard for lack of criminal responsibility?

  • Lindsay Clancy Trial | Day 8 Autopsy Testimony & Key Witnesses

Day 8 of the Lindsay Clancy murder trial brought some of the most emotional testimony of the trial as jurors heard detailed medical evidence about the deaths of Cora, Dawson, and Callan Clancy. Dr. Kimberley Springer of the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner testified about the children's autopsies, causes of death, and injuries. Lindsay became visibly distraught during testimony concerning 8-month-old Callan, prompting a courtroom recess. Jurors also heard from people close to the Clancy family who described Lindsay as a loving mother while providing important testimony about her mental health and behavior before January 24, 2023.

Join True Crime Squad as we break down the major testimony from Day 8, the prosecution's strategy, Kevin Reddington's cross-examinations, and the evidence that mattered most. As the Commonwealth moves closer to the crucial psychiatric evidence, we'll examine how today's testimony fits into the central battle of the Lindsay Clancy trial: whether she was criminally responsible for killing her three children or whether severe mental illness and postpartum psychosis left her unable to appreciate the wrongfulness of her actions.

  • Lindsay Clancy Trial Day Seven - Nanny Testifies, Medical & Forensic Evidence

Day 7 of the Lindsay Clancy murder trial featured powerful testimony from the family's former nanny, additional forensic evidence, and continued medical testimony as prosecutors worked to strengthen their case. Former nanny Elaine Rossi told jurors Lindsay Clancy was a "wonderful mother" who deeply loved her children and never gave her reason to worry about their safety. Jurors also watched a home video of baby Callan that Rossi had recorded, creating one of the most emotional moments of the trial. The prosecution also presented DNA and toxicology evidence while medical witnesses testified about Lindsay's injuries and treatment following the events of January 24, 2023.

Join True Crime Squad as we break down every major moment from Day 7, including the nanny's testimony, the forensic evidence presented to the jury, the key cross-examinations, and what today's testimony means for both the prosecution and the defense. We also discuss how the Commonwealth is building its case before the expected battle between psychiatric experts over whether Lindsay Clancy was legally criminally responsible or suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time of the deaths of her three children.

  • Lindsay Clancy and Andrea Yates Comparison, Jesse Butler, Officer uses taser near gas pump

Andrea Yates and Lindsay Clancy are often compared because both were nurses, mothers of young children, and experienced severe postpartum mental health struggles before killing their children. But how similar are these tragic cases? In this episode of True Crime Squad, we compare their backgrounds, mental health histories, psychiatric treatment, warning signs, and the events leading up to the deaths of their children.

We'll also examine Andrea Yates' documented religious delusions, the influence of preacher Michael Woroniecki, Lindsay Clancy's reported command hallucinations, and the competing arguments presented by the prosecution and defense. Finally, we'll explore why Andrea was found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity and why Lindsay Clancy's case raises a very different legal question.
