Wicklow’s historic gaol stands in the centre of the township and today it is one of its major visitor attractions. But its history is filled with the angry men of Irish rebellions and the starving faces of the local people.

You could be put behind bars for life for stealing a sheep and more people were transported from the area of Wicklow than anywhere else in Ireland.

Most of them ended up in Australia.

Wicklow Gaol has many ghosts that are seemingly serving an ‘afterlife sentence’ as they have no intention of leaving any time soon and encountering one of them can be a terrifying experience.

We dive into the stories of these poor souls and find out why this gaol saw so many prisoners condemned to never finding peace.

The Highgate Vampire was a media sensation surrounding reports of supposed supernatural activity at Highgate Cemetery in London in the 1970s.

This sensational claim was sparked when several people came out saying that they had witnessed a dark malevolent shape sliding and slithering along the outside walls of the cemetery whilst they were passing by.

This was even more disturbing for these witnesses as they the cemetery is surrounded by houses on all sides and the witnesses all lived in close proximity to the site.

Why, though, did this story get so much media coverage?

Join us in this episode for a very fascinating twist that changed the silence and peace of Highgate Cemetery forever.

Built during the twelfth century, Newgate Prison in London became well known as a place of great cruelty and wretchedness, with a lack of regard for the humans inside its walls.

It was reserved for some of the most notorious prisoners ever held under the death sentence.

It lacked fresh air and drinkable water.

Punishment was so inhumane that death was a blessed relief for the inmates.

The story of Newgate Prison is a witness to humanity's capacity to inflict pain and suffering upon each other.

The things that went on at Newgate over the centuries were looked at as normal conduct for their time but now we just shudder at these stories!

You are about to hear a tragic story, with a very sad ending. So, we are giving those who may be easily triggered by emotional content, and those under 18, a heads up that there will be a mention of suicide in this episode.

But we must tell this story in its entirety -  as the events that happened in the Ferrier household in St Paulo, Brazil, might just be one of the most violent episodes of Poltergeist phenomena ever recorded.

The activity that is described in this week’s episode is thought to have been created by a poltergeist, even possibly, some sort of bizarre revenge from the grave by a restless spirit.

This place might look strangely familiar to some.

You may think, in your mind, that you have seen it before.

If you have watched enough TV or movies over the last 20 years it will soon become clear.

There aren’t many places in the world that are creepier than abandoned hospitals, and the Linda Vista Hospital in Los Angeles California goes a long way to reinforcing that story.

The hospital opened in 1904, and was used as a psychiatric hospital as well as a “normal” hospital.

Before it was closed in 1991, the it saw a steady increase in patients, due to an increase in violent gang related crime in the surrounding Boyle Heights area.

But the sense of familiarity to this place will be revealed in this episode.

Join us to find out why the Linda Vista Hospital is the place of nightmares.

Despite its pretty brown stone exterior, the building at 14 West 10th Street in Greenwich Village has a not-so-nice history.

Since being constructed in the 1850’s it’s alleged that 22 people have died in the home and some of their spirits, seem to have never left.

Some new residents have not been able to stay longer than a day, saying that their experience whilst in the house, was too much for them. Something sinister and horrible resided there and it was too frightening to stay.

But that’s not all. To top it all off a ghastly murder occurred in the building in 1987 sealing the fate of this place as one of the most disturbing places in New York.

Sounds intriguing – let’s find out more shall we?

From movies to paranormal game shows, ghost stories continue to scare and fascinate the people of Indonesia.

Not surprisingly, anything to do with ghosts has become a source of income for many.

Said to be one of Indonesia’s most haunted place, the Lawang Sewu is notorious for being featured in the final episode of a local paranormal TV series, where an apparition was caught on video.

A few days later, rumours spread online that one of the participants had died mysteriously.

This incident, maybe not even related, just added to the fuel to the fire of the myth of the Lawang Sewu and so it continues to be one of the most visited haunted sites in Indonesia.

But what happened here to make this such a terrible place?

We got curious and wanted to find out more – and in this episode we are sharing with you what we discovered.

With an alleged 63,000 deaths taking place inside its walls, Waverly hills Sanatorium is up to its eyeballs in ghosts and not surprisingly the site keeps topping the list of America’s most haunted locations.

Originally built as a tuberculosis hospital in 1910, the building saw many lose their life from the disease.

This was not the worst of it – slowly stories of mistreatment and dubious human experimentation trickled out.

Patients who died left the premises in what was known as the “death tunnel”, or “body chute”.

Surely this place has earned the title of the most haunted site in America?

Waverly Hills attracts hundreds of ghost hunters every year who venture into the abyss of it's vastness in the dark searching for the lost souls that lurk within.

What does the future hold for this site?

But, more importantly, is it truly haunted?

Join us in this episode to find out more about Waverly Hills Sanatorium.

Throughout history men have formed clandestine clubs, where rich young aristocrats would meet and indulge in drunken orgies, gambling and carousing.

Few clubs have attained so much sensationalism as the Hellfire Clubs established in Britain and Ireland in the 18th century.

Their history has lived on through the remains of these clubs, which are now major attractions open to the public.

In our most recent trip overseas we visited the Hellfire Caves in West Wycombe just outside of London.

What happened at these venues is the stuff of legends!

Made up stories of the very worst kind?

Or real experiences that only the very rich or very famous could savour?

In this episode we go underground to hear the stories that have now become legend of the antics deep within the Hellfire Caves of West Wycombe UK.
