We are so excited to launch a 4-episode series - we’ll be hearing from adolescents/young adults ages 14-early 20s about their journey and experiences during COVID. The purpose of this series is to get an idea of what it’s been like for these young people this past year - in school (in person and remote), staying connected (or feeling disconnected with friends) and learning from their perspective what it feels and looks like living this new pandemic lifestyle.
Today we’re thrilled to chat with Faith Comitis. Faith is 20, lives in Amsterdam and will graduate this year with a degree in tourism. She speaks 3 languages, has traveled extensively and is a very accomplished young woman.
We talk about how this has been a tough time for our youth, but like a lot of adults, there are some things that have been positive that they want to incorporate into their lives when the pandemic is over. Challenges include, limitations of autonomy, the impact of a new life routine, limited social interaction - having to cancel big life milestones (like graduation, prom and sports seasons), and experiencing profound change and loss. As for positive experiences, there’s the theme of discovering oneself, slower pace of life, re-discovering family, and connecting at a distance. Faith tells us what it's been like for her and we get to hear the ups and downs, the challenges and learning and how she's evolved and grown this past year.
