Do Christians have a well-rounded knowledge of God?  In today's culture it seems that more and more people have less and less knowledge about God and his word, why is this the case?  Why have so many believers become so biblically illiterate to the point where they rely on a few people to tell them what to believe about Christ?  This is one of the most avoidable situations, yet we fail time and time again.

For thousands of years, people have debated what it means to be made in the image of God.  Is it a specific characteristic, a physical attribute, or is it a combination of both?  What if we have been asking the wrong questions?  Is the image of God merely a virtue we are given or is it a vocation?  If it's the latter then we have some serious work to do.  Either way, let's look at how the Image of God is used throughout the Biblical story to see if we can discern its meaning.

On the first day of creation God does something essential, he overcomes the first obstacle to life which is darkness.   Many of us have painted a picture in our head of what this process would've looked like, we read the words "let there be light" and may assume many things from that statement alone.  The real question is, what exactly is being created on Day 1?  Is it light itself, or is something else being created altogether?  Let us find out!

Nothing in the Bible is there by mistake.  Every chapter and verse is carefully crafted to provide meaning and structure and Genesis 1 is no different.  Throughout my biblical studies, I have discovered that Genesis 1 is one of the most structured chapters in the Bible, and for a good reason.  With this in mind, we could expect the 7 days of creation to have this same attention to detail woven into them.  Let's take some time to discover the connection between the 7 days of creation.

Trust me... I know the title sounds crazy, but I promise that it will all make sense! In Genesis 1:21 were told that God filled the waters with "great sea creatures" this seems straightforward but is this an accurate translation of the Hebrew words used? Also, what about the other texts in scripture that talk about the Leviathan and these giant monster serpents?
