December 08, 2022 Gospel of John 15:1-6 - Jesus is the true vine and the Father is the vinedresser - Prog 69
The Unchanging Word Bible study is now in John chapter 15 verses 1-6.
In this chapter, after the the Lord Jesus and the disciples have left the upper room,
they are apparently walking through a vineyard on the way to the garden
where He would often go.
Here Jesus is speaking of Himself being the true vine and His Father
being the vinedresser. He speaks of the relationship of the branches to the vine.
Dr. Mitchell brings out the fact that the theme of this passage is not salvation
but rather fruit bearing.
There are degrees of fruit bearing, from simple fruit,
to more fruit and then much fruit.
All fruit bearing comes from abiding in Christ, the true vine.

December 07, 2022 Gospel of John 14:26-31 - Jesus promises His peace - not the world's peace - Prog 68
Our study in the Gospel of John continues in John chapter 14 verses 26-31
as we bring chapter 14 to a conclusion here on the Unchanging Word Bible study.
In our study today, Dr. Mitchell recalls an incident where the necessity
of having the Word of God within one's self is necessary for the Holy Spirit
to bring it to remembrance.

This is why we emphasize the vital importance of reading and rereading
the precious Word of God even audibly so that you can both see and hear God's Word.
Continuing on, Jesus speaks of giving us His peace, not the world's peace.
Having His peace, we can keep our hearts from being troubled or afraid.

Have you and I been able to do that? We can with His peace.

December 06, 2022 Gospel of John 14:20-26 - Jesus' promise of the Holy Spirit to teach and to bring to remembrance His Words - Prog 67
Welcome once again to the Unchanging Word broadcast.
We are in John chapter 14 beginning at verse 20.
Jesus is continuing to give instruction to His disciples
concerning the one who loves Him and the response of love for the savior.
In this passage, the other Judas (not Iscariot), asks Jesus the fourth question
about how the Lord will manifest Himself to the disciples and not to the world.
Jesus' answer has to do with keeping His word.
Jesus also discloses that the Holy Spirit of God, the helper, will aid the believer
in keeping His word.
He will do this both by teaching and bringing to remembrance the very words of Christ.
Dr. Mitchell will go into detail on how we can please the Lord
and continue in the Word of God so as to be led by God.

December 06, 2022 Gospel of John - Jesus' promise of another comforter, the Holy Spirit - Prog 66
The Unchanging Word continues our study in the Gospel of John.
Dr. Mitchell will be teaching in chapter 14, verse 14 through 20.
Jesus is speaking with His disciples in the Upper room before He goes to the cross.
This passage points to a future time which Jesus calls "that day".
In that day, the world will see Him no more, but the disciples will see Him.
And in that day, He would ask the Father and in turn give them another comforter,
helper and advocate, the Spirit of truth.
This helper would be in them and with them forever.
In this program, Dr. Mitchell will disclose our resources
for glorifying God the Father in the Son.
He discusses the union of the Son in the Father,
the union of the believer in Christ, and of Christ in the believer.

December 01, 2022 Gospel of John 14:8-11 - Jesus is in the Father and the Father is in Jesus - Prog 64
This is the Unchanging Word Bible study.
Welcome to our continuing study in the Gospel of John.
We are in John 14 verses 8-11.
Today, Dr. Mitchell deals with His disciple Philip who made the third request to Jesus.
He said to Jesus, "Show us the Father."
Jesus makes it clear that the one who has seen Jesus has seen the Father.
When we see Jesus we see the Father.
And the only way one can see Jesus is to read the Word of God, the Bible,
where our Lord is revealed.

As it is written in John 1:18, "No one has seen God at any time.
The only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father,
He has revealed Him,” has made Him known in detail.

Jesus simply asks us to believe Him.
With Dr. Mitchell, in providing examples of O.T. saints
who also saw the Lord, turn with us to John 14:8

November 30, 2022 Gospel of John 14:4-7 - Jesus announces the rapture and answers questions from the disciples - Prog 63
On the Unchanging Word Bible study Dr. Mitchell will be looking at the four questions
from the disciples and the four answers from our Lord.
Peter asks two questions.
Both Thomas and Judas (not Iscariot) also each ask a question.
We are in John 14 beginning at verse 4.
Here Jesus is comforting His disciples with His going to prepare places
in heaven for us when He comes again for His church.
This coming by Jesus will not be accompanied by angels,
but it will be Jesus and Him alone descending from heaven.
At this time, He will change our bodies to be like His own glorious body
as Jesus raises the bodies of the dead in Christ, and changes the bodies
of those still alive when He comes.
Our teacher, Dr. Mitchell continues in John 14 beginning at verse 4.

We are studying in the gospel of John.
We are at the end of chapter 13 and the beginning of chapter 14.
In this study, Dr. Mitchell presents Jesus as the coming One.
Jesus is presently preparing dwellings, abiding places for us in heaven.
In speaking of preparations, in Romans 9:23 Paul also writes that
God has prepared US as vessels of mercy beforehand for glory.
Not only is Jesus preparing a place for us,
God is also preparing us for this place, for this glory.
Dr. Mitchell also shares with us that there are four questions
from the disciples and Jesus has four answers.

November 28, 2022 Gospel of John 13:31-35 - Jesus' command to love one another as He has loved us - Prog 61
The Unchanging Word is in John 13 starting in verse 31 for our lesson today.
Thank you for listening along with us here.
After Judas had gone out, Jesus now begins to speak to His disciples about the Son of Man
being glorified at the cross and the resurrection and God being glorified in Him.
Here we read in verse 32 of a reciprocal glory between the Father and the Son.
Note too, that God would glorify Jesus even within Himself.
Jesus also spoke about a new commandment of love for one another.
This love would be of such a character that people everywhere would know
that they were disciples of Jesus Christ.
Remember at the beginning of this chapter,
John wrote: "Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the very end". John 13:1

Now on the Unchanging Word Bible study we are in John 13:18-30.
Continuing with Jesus' Upper Room discourse, we see Jesus manifest
His knowledge of the Word of God by quoting Ps.41:9.
But also, being omniscient, being God in the flesh,
our Lord knows things before they happen.
He says in verse 19, "I am telling you before it happens.."
Jesus knew ahead of time which disciple would betray Him.
Here Dr. Mitchell points out the danger of being among God's people,
of being religious, yet not ever knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as one's own personal saviour.
Where are you dear one? Do you know His love for you?
If not, you can. Just come to Him by faith, call upon Him and
He will enter your heart and save you. He has promised!
