We start in Revelation chapter 12 at verse 1.

Our study in the book of Revelation brings us to chapter 12 which begins with John seeing a great sign revealed in heaven.

Dr. Mitchell discusses the meaning of this great sign - a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon and a crown of 12 stars on her head. He then tells us of the 4 women written about in the book of Revelation.

Then there is another sign that also appears in heaven. This sign reveals a great red dragon.

Dr. Mitchell discusses who this red dragon is in Isa.14 and Ezekiel 28. Dr. Mitchell describes his influence and how he wants to destroy the child. But the child was caught up to God in heaven.

Dr. Mitchell describes this child as the Lord Jesus Christ born of the nation of Israel.

Let's join our teacher in Revelation chapter 12 verse 1.

Welcome to the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast. Our study in Revelation chapter 11 continues in verses 18-19 with our teacher, Dr. John G. Mitchell.

In Rev. 11 verse 18, John speaking of the time when God rewards his servants, his prophets, his saints, and those who fear his name both small and great, Dr. Mitchell points out that God rewards faithfulness rather than greatness.

Being faithful to the Lord and His Word brings reward.

Also in verse 18, God destroys those who destroy the earth. Dr. Mitchell comments on how this may relate to the ecology of the earth. He makes mention of the Aswan dam in Egypt, completed in 1970.

In verse 19, the temple of God is opened in the heaven and the ark of His covenant is seen in the temple. Just as God's Word is forever settled in heaven, so here too the ark of God's covenant is seen in heaven.

Our study in chapter 11 begins in verse 15 after Dr. Mitchell gives us a quick review from our last lesson.

Beginning in verse 15, Dr. Mitchell goes on to speak about the 7th trumpet. It unleashes loud voices in heaven proclaiming that God will rule His kingdom forever.

Then the nations became angry and God pours out His wrath as well. But He also rewards His servants but destroys those who destroy the earth.

Along with Dr. Mitchell, we ask you to earnestly trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, the saviour God appointed for us. He came to deliver us by His blood shed on the cross from the wrath to come. (Romans 5:9)

Let's turn to Revelation chapter 11 verse 15 with our teacher, Dr. Mitchell.

Our study begins here in Revelation chapter 11 verse 1.

In this chapter we will see several distinct personages.

John measuring the temple.

The two witnesses in Jerusalem.

The beast coming out of the pit.

Those who dwell on the earth.

Seven thousand killed in an earthquake.

In this chapter, Dr. Mitchell focuses our attention on the two witnesses. They prophesy in Jerusalem for 1260 days, which is 3 1/2 years before they are killed.

He also speaks of the condition of the city of Jerusalem in those days. Then, to everyone's amazement and astonishment, the two witnesses are raised from the dead. And whats more, they then ascend into heaven.

Dr. Mitchell will cover more of this passage in depth in our next lesson. But here he gives us an overview of Revelation chapter 11.

So, if you will, turn with us to Revelation chapter 11 verse 1. with our teacher, Dr. Mitchell.

Thank you for being with us here on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast. We are in Revelation chapter 10 beginning at verse 11.

As we heard before, the Apostle John was told to eat the little scroll. It would taste sweet as honey in his mouth, but it would turn sour in his stomach. The bitterness was the realization that God is yet to judge both the nations and Israel during this time of tribulation.

The Apostle John was told that he must again prophesy to many peoples and nations and languages and kings.

Here it should be noted that John prophesies. This book which he has written is called a prophecy. It speaks of things to come. The Lord Jesus told his disciples, and John being one of them, that when the Holy Spirit would come, He would show them things to come. (Jn.14:26, 16:13)

Our study now moves into Revelation chapter 10. Dr. John G. Mitchell will be speaking on verses 1 thru 10.

Dr. Mitchell walks us through these verses describing the extent of the destruction of the future known world of the people on earth, the earth dwellers.

"The secret things belong to the Lord, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons that we may do them." Deuteronomy 29:29.

Here John heard the revealed 7 thunders say something, but God told him not to write what they said, they were to hidden. So no one but God, the 7 thunders and John know what was spoken.

Our Bible is the Divinely revealed and inspired Word of God and we can know what God has revealed about Himself, about Jesus Christ His Son and His finished work of salvation. He also made know us what we should believe and how we should live in His Word.

Also, in these verses the Apostle John is given a small scroll by an angel and told to eat it. e.g. he is to thoroughly digest what it says and to proclaim it even though it is hard to bear.

Let's open our Bible to Revelation 10:1 with our teacher, Dr. Mitchell.

Our study with Dr. John G. Mitchell continues in Revelation chapter 9 verses 13-21.

In these verses John heard the the sixth angel sound his trumpet. Then a voice from heaven tells this 6th angel let loose 4 other angels who would kill a third of mankind.

In 2Peter3:8 Peter writes: "..that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day." meaning that God sees all of time all at once from an eternal perspective.

But here in Revelation 9:14, John writes that the four angels were prepared by God for the hour, the day, the month and the year. God also works in the earthly time frames which He created, e.g. for seasons, days and years; (Gen.1:14)

Dr. Mitchell further speaks of the state of humanity as it will be then and is today, drugs and immorality. People need to turn to the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation from sin.

Moving out of chapter 8 into chapter 9, John writes that he saw an angel in mid heaven. This angel proclaims three woes to them that dwell on the earth.

Then in Revelation chapter 9, the fifth of the 7 angels sounded a trumpet blast. A star falls from heaven. He opens the pit of the abyss with a key. This lets loose a swarm of locust-like-creatures which he describes.

It is noted in verse 12, they have a king over them. He has a name which means destruction.

Dr. Mitchell gives the interpretation of these verses which describe these destroying demons. They looked like locusts. He shares how mankind at that time will be so tormented that they will seek and ask to die, but death will flee from them.

Jesus died for us and rose again to deliver us from our sins, today. Let's trust Him.

Revelation chapter 8 verses 6-12 will be the center of our attention in this lesson.

The conditions of our present generation are not much different from the days of which Dr. Mitchell spoke. Is there hope for us in these days? There is indeed.

God hears our prayers and being a just and righteous God will answers the weakest of us who know Him. Add to this the fact that Jesus Christ Himself and the Holy Spirit also intercede for the believer, we have great hope.

Dr. Mitchell then goes on to speak of the seven trumpet judgements. In this lesson we cover the first four of the seven trumpets which the seven angels sound.

Let's open our Bible and join Dr. Mitchell in Revelation 8 verse 6.

This chapter begins with the Lamb opening the 7th seal of the scroll. There was silence in heaven for 1/2 hour, the calm before the storm.

Dr. Mitchell speaks in depth concerning the meaning of verses 3-5. These speak of the prayers of the saints lifted up with the smoke of the incense found in the angel's censor.

And then the angel fills the censor with fire from the alter which is before the throne of God and throws it to earth to mark the judgments to come.

God reveals that judgment is coming. You and I who know the Lord Jesus Christ will escape these judgments.

If you don't yet know Jesus Christ as your saviour, ask Him to save you from your sin right now and He will do it.
