The focus of this lesson is on Christ Himself.

1st Peter 3:18 speaks of Christ and His character - He is the Just One.

It speaks of all people as well - the unrighteous. It speaks of the purpose for which Christ died once for sins for all - that He might bring us to God.

It also speaks of His resurrection - being made alive by the Spirit.

As Dr. Mitchell says, Jesus is the only way into the presence of God. Jesus is the only one who can bring us to God. Man cannot do this by any means.

Have you trusted Jesus Christ as your savior? If you have not, speak with Him to start a relationship by trusting Jesus and thanking Him for dying for you and taking your sins away.

Dr. Mitchell will be looking at suffering under unjust persecution in 1st Peter chapter 3 verses 15-18.

Peter writes to us to 'set apart Christ as Lord in our hearts' and at the same time 'being prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks for the reason for the hope that is in us.' This is to be done in meekness and respect.

What or who is your hope? Earlier in chapter 2, the holy women hoped in God.

Another hope is the coming of the Lord Jesus for His own when He descends from heaven to call the church to Himself, Titus 2:13.

He gives us this blessed hope as He said to His disciples in Jn 14. He is going to prepare a place for us and He will come again to receive us to Himself. Are you always ready?

Dr. Mitchell will be speaking on verses 10-14 in 1st Peter chapter 3 on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

Here we find Peter quoting 5 verses from Psalm 34. He writes these in response to those who trust in the Lord. The one trusting in Christ the Lord is not to retaliate or speak against the evildoer.

Do you remember how earlier in chapter 2, Jesus, who while suffering, did not revile in return, but kept entrusting Himself to God who judges righteously?

The eyes of the Lord and the ears of the Lord are always open to the cry of the righteous. What an encouragement! Are you righteous? You are if you have placed your faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ. God is the one who justifies,e.g. He declares the one who trusts in Christ to be righteous in His presence. God's declaration makes the final difference.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, 1 Peter 3:10.

Our study in 1st Peter chapter 3 continues in verses 8 and 9. Dr. Mitchell gives us a brief overview of family relationships which he has covered in previous lessons.

He then continues in verses 8 and 9 which in effect, sums up the exhortations of the apostle Peter on the subject of being in subjection to various relationships.

In verses 8 and 9, there are 8 phrases which summarize the Christian's response to the grace of God. This grace of God is made evident in these times of trials by our attitudes and actions because of our focus on the savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dr. Mitchell shares a personal experience within his own home concerning rendering a blessing rather that railing.

Let's open our Bibles to 1st Peter chapter 3 verse 8 here on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast with Dr. Mitchell.

Dr. Mitchell continues in 1st Peter chapter 3. He will focus on verse 7. The believing husband is exhorted to dwell with his wife in an understanding way.

In Ephesians 5 the focus is more on the husband than on the wife, but here is 1st Peter 3, the wife is more the focus than the husband. Dr. Mitchell speaks of the honor, the understanding and cooperation of the man and his wife in this life being akin to heaven on earth. It becomes evident to all who see.

Dr. Mitchell brings out the fact husbands and wives are heirs together of the grace of life. This is important because one's prayer life is affected by the relationship of the man to his wife. If one's prayer is not answered, could it be that this marriage relationship needs attention?

In 1st Peter, we now move into chapter 3 verses 1-6. Dr. Mitchell reviews a part of chapter 2 which exhorts us keep our conduct excellent. Several exhortations from Peter are to be subject to those in authority.

First it is those in government, then to servants with masters, now in chapter 3, the exhortation to be subject, is to believing wives, even if they do not have a believing husband.

Dr. Mitchell gives us insight to the relationship between a believing wife and an unbelieving husband.

Dr. Mitchell finds in these verses the motives of the godly wife in the home. These are displayed in the conduct of life, in the attitude of heart based in their hope in God.

Dr. Mitchell continues his overview of the book of John.

Here we take a look at Jesus our Savior, the Word Who Was in the Beginning and who was with God and who is God. In Him was life and the life was the light of men.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, John 1:1-18

Dr. Mitchell continues in 1st Peter 2:23-25.

The emphasis in this passage centers upon the savior, Jesus Christ.

Verse 23 reveals what was done to Him while He entrusted Himself to God.

Verse 24 reveals what He did for us, and how we can now trust Him so we can die to sin and live to righteousness.

As Dr. Mitchell looks into verse 24, he speaks of the meaning of the words that are written, 'By His wound we were healed.'

It is observed, that Jesus died for sins ONCE for all. Jesus was struck by God on the cross, one time, never to be repeated. It is finished. By His wound we are healed.

The death of Christ released us from sins so as to live in righteousness during our stay upon earth.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, 1st Peter 2:23, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

In 1st Peter 2:21-23, Peter continues showing us the example of Jesus Christ. Jesus, as well as being a savior, is here given as an example.

Dr. Mitchell shares with us two other scriptures revealing Jesus as an example. The purpose of Jesus' examples is that we should follow in His footsteps. His is a sinless example and savior from sin. He too suffered unjustly but He kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously. God knows what the truth is and judges justly.

So, God justifies the one who trusts in the risen Christ the savior.

The injustice of Pontus Pilate who said three times that he found no fault in Christ is also pointed out.

Dr. Mitchell shares passages from Isaiah 51 and 52 concerning where our savior is found.
