We use to play cowboys and indians as children, but Jesus speaks of weddings and funerals which the children in the market place used for playing games.

Jesus likens the leaders of Israel to these children. They were not satisfied by either John the Baptist or Jesus as evidenced by their rejection of both John and Jesus.

Dr. Mitchell makes note of this fact that unbelief in never satisfied, no matter what or how much evidence is put forth.

Where are you with regard to faith in the truth or unbelief of the facts?

He loves you my friend! And He is as near as your prayer to Him.

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ who in fact has been raised from the dead and is alive right now today and you will be saved!

Here is Dr. Mitchell, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Lk.7:31.

The Son of God raises the dead with His voice only!

This reminds us of these comforting words from 1Thess.4:16 which says,“The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God and the dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord!”

Jesus’ coming for us will be loud for us who have ears to hear the voice of the Son of God. Our bodies will be changed and we meet the Lord in the air.

This blessed hope comes with the shout of our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dr. Mitchell takes us into Luke 7:16-30 on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

We see Jesus in Capernaum, Luke 7:1⁠,

This study will look at what Dr. Mitchell terms the commendation of faith and then the raising of the dead.

First of all, Jesus commends a gentile Roman soldier, a centurion. Being a centurion he had at least 100 men under his command. Here, this centurion is seen as having compassion on his slave. This was rare. But he was one who had high regard for the nation of Israel.

On this basis the Jews were commending him to Jesus so that the Lord would come and heal the centurion’s slave.

This man had faith in Christ alone.

Then the Lord goes on to raise the dead son of a widow in the city of Nain having great compassion on her.

In both cases, Jesus just speaks the Word and it is done.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, Luke 7:1, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

Having looked at planks and splinters or logs and specks, depending on your Bible translation, Jesus goes on to speak of good trees and bad trees which become evident by their fruit.

Jesus then applies this truth to the human heart out of which the mouth speaks.

Dr. Mitchell speaks with respect to standards of right and wrong which may be tempered by certain influences.

There needs to be this distinction between right and wrong for the preservation of society.

For this reason, Proverbs 4:23 states “keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.”

The believer needs to guard his own heart. This is done by reading and staying in the Word of God looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith. This is our foundation.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, Luke 6:42, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

Luke 6:32-42 will be the focus of our study in this lesson, with Dr. John G. Mitchell.

He continues looking at our attitude toward others found in verses 27-38. These verses show the contrast between divine and human relationships.

In verse 35, we see that God is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. God’s kindness is without partiality. And in this

Our Father shows His mercy. Do you and I show this attitude to others as well?

With respect to judging others, Dr. Mitchell says we should temper judgment with mercy. As James 2:12-13 says, concerning the law of liberty, “For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.”

With both kindness, mercy, grace and truth, here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Lk. 6:32.

In Luke 6:20-31 Our Savior speaks both 4 blessings and 4 woes.

This message is the ethical teaching our Lord to His disciples. It is applicable to us today as well.

First, Dr. Mitchell takes us through the 4 blessings which were aimed at His disciples. He then take up the 4 woes which were aimed at His enemies.

Each of the blessings and the woes address the same topics. The blessings are then reversed in the woes.

It is noted, that the fathers of these enemies did the same things to God’s prophets as they are doing to Jesus’ disciples.

Our Lord also gives us the believer’s motive, expectation and response to one’s enemies found in verse 31 in the golden rule.

With the blessing of hearing the Word of God, here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Lk 6:20.

The study of the Gospel of Luke on the Unchanging Word Bible continues in Luke 6:12.

Beginning with verse 12, we read of Jesus going out to a mountain to pray. Here Jesus prayed all night.

As the next portion of Scripture reveals, He did this because He was going to choose 12 men from among His many disciples. Having chosen these 12, He called them apostles.

Dr. Mitchell discusses the meaning of the word apostle and makes mention of the fact that 11 of the apostles were from Galilee in the north and only one, Judas, was from Judea in the south.

Then, verse 17, Jesus begins giving instructions to His apostles, and other disciples and a multitude from other regions on the coast.

Listening to the Words of Jesus, here is Dr. Mitchell, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Lk.6:12.

Dr. Mitchell will start in Luke 6:1. Here we see how the religious rulers were again confronting Jesus’ disciples on the sabbath day. Once again, JESUS addresses the situation by appealing to the word of God, in the Old Testament, concerning David and his men who were hungry and ate holy bread which only the priests were allowed to eat.

Here Jesus states that He, the Son of Man, is the Lord of the Sabbath. Man’s faith has higher priority than religious legalities.

Dr. Mitchell declares several facets of the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ. One of which is “Jesus is the propitiation for our sins.” Amen!

On the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, here is Dr. Mitchell, Luke 6:1-11.

In Luke 5:27-39, Luke wrote concerning Levi, also known as Matthew, whom Jesus called to follow Him.

He also writes that Jesus told another parable concerning wardrobe and wine, and concerning the old and the new which do not mix.

First, Dr. Mitchell takes a look at the calling of a disciple named Levi. He called his tax-gathering friends together and made a feast for Jesus. Here is the first example of friendship evangelism.

Then Luke writes how the rulers attack Jesus’ disciples first, trying to get at Jesus. But notice how our Lord Himself addresses this opposition.

Remember, Jesus said in Acts 9:4, “Saul, Saul why are you persecuting Me?” Saul, later called Paul, had been persecuting the Lord’s church. Jesus takes it personally when His church is persecuted. Saul was then saved thru faith in Jesus as the Christ.

Turning to Luke 5:24-26, Dr. Mitchell shares that Jesus sees faith.

He brings out forgiveness of sins which Christ offers each one of us. Do you know His forgiveness which He Himself gives us for His name’s sake?

1 John 2:12 John says, “I am writing to you, little children, BECAUSE YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN YOU FOR HIS NAME’S SAKE.”

Which is easier to say? It is easy to say words, but Jesus proves that His words come with power.

As Dr. Mitchell states with regard to Jesus’ healing, “He performed the one to prove His authority for the other.”
