Jesus now speaks and warns His disciples of the leaven of the Pharisees which is hypocrisy. The word hypocrisy means to act under a guise, like an actor playing a part while wearing a costume to give the appearance of reality.

These religious rulers were doing this, playing the part of having a relationship with God, which they did not have. They proved this by rejecting Jesus, God's Son. There was no reality or truth in them.

Jesus warns us His disciples of these kind of religious leaders. Keep your eyes and ears on Jesus who is the truth.

Next, Jesus gives us His encouragement about the detail of God's care for each one of us. Dr. Mitchell relates that even our times are in His hands. During which time, we can confess Jesus as our savior and Lord.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, Luke 12:1. this is the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

The Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast continues in the Gospel of Luke which he wrote to the most excellent Theophilus for both him and us to know the certainty of the words of truth concerning our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are in Lk.11: 32 as Dr. Mitchell continues the exposition of this Gospel. In this passage he will speak of the light which enters the eye and shines into the whole body. We are to shine the light of the Lord Jesus through us to others.

Next, Jesus confronts the religious leaders and scholars of his day, e.g. the Pharisees and the lawyers in the Scriptures. One thing that stands out in vs.42 is that they were majoring on the minors and minoring on the majors. Their priorities were totally switched to the point of their neglect of the more important Biblical priorities.

Here, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast is Dr. Mitchell, Lk. 11:32.

In Luke 11:24 through 32 Jesus speaks of the futility of self-reformation. Now this is different than spiritual regeneration. Self-reformation still leaves one empty while spiritual regeneration fills one with Christ himself by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus then goes on to say how blessed are those who hear the word of God and do it. Blessing comes from the obedience of hearing.

He then speaks of the sign of Jonah to this wicked generation who are asking for a sign and Jesus went on to say that he himself is this sign to this generation.

Our Lord is a greater than Jonah! Our Lord Jesus both died and was buried and rose again and appeared to witnesses. And we believe in a living Savior seated at the right hand of God who also intercedes for us.

The next picture Luke writes to Theophilus and to us has to do once again with Jesus casting out a demon which made the man mute unable to speak. 

Well this brought about the occasion for some to accuse Jesus of using the power of Beelzebul to do this. Now Beelzebul or Beelzebub is another name for Satan, the devil.

Jesus then speaks to these people to show their utter inconsistency and irrationality of any kingdom or house being divided against itself. If division persists that fall will be great and this is true even of Satan.

These accusers need to see how irrational their thinking is that it is not right.

And then Dr. Mitchell goes on to speak in detail about the unpardonable sin what it is and what it is not.

Luke Gives us the picture of Jesus in the home of Martha in Luke chapter 10 verses 38 through 42.

They lived in the village of Bethany.

Jesus is teaching and Mary is seated at His Feet listening to His word.

Luke records the comparison between Mary and her sister Martha. Martha was busy with making preparations for the Lord and his disciples.

Dr. Mitchell brings out the fact that the two sisters both loved the savior. The good thing that Mary had chosen would not be taken away from her. She was seated at Jesus' feet listening to His word.

We are reminded that Luke is also the gospel of Prayer.

In chapter 11, the disciples heard Jesus praying and wanted Him to teach them how to pray and so He teaches them the model prayer.

Here's Dr Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Luke chapter 10 verse 38.

Let's turn to Luke 10:25-37.

This picture of our Lord, dealing with a Jewish lawyer on the question of what he could do to inherit eternal life, is presented by Luke to us to realize that there is nothing a person can do to inherit eternal life. Why? because eternal life is received by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone.

Only He has accomplished all that God demands for sin, in all it’s entirety. Jesus dealt with sin in it’s eternal and temporal results by dying for each person on earth, shedding His own blood. God’s righteousness was vindicated by our Lord Jesus. God is now quite free to forgive any and every kind of sin to anyone on earth, even you! and me.

Here’s Dr. Mitchell with the Good Samaritan on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Luke 10:25.

In Luke 10:16-26, we see the joy of the 72 when they had returned from their multi-city outreach proclaiming the coming kingdom of God in the person of the Messiah, Jesus.

Jesus gives us the ground of our joy. It is the joy of being in right relationship with savior, our names are recorded in heaven. Philippians 3:20 says "our citizenship is in heaven from which we also look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ."

Next Luke gives us the joy of Jesus. He was exceedingly joyful in the presence of His Father that God reveals spiritual truth to those wo believe. The truth Jesus speaks to us about is the revelation of God about who Jesus is. Do you know Jesus Christ as God has revealed Him in the Word of God?

Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Luke 10:16.

Once again our Lord is confronted with would-be followers, one of whom Jesus asked to follow Him. But family affections hindered him. Another also said he would follow Jesus but he was not yet ready to do so on the spot. Jesus is asking for commitment.

Then Our Lord commissions 72 others of his many disciples to go into the harvest. Their authority was to heal the sick and to announce that the Kingdom of God has come near, in the person of the Lord Jesus.

They had divine authority to authenticate the message of the coming kingdom of God. But did cities believe their message? Those cities who rejected the gospel message of the coming kingdom with Jesus as their king would be harshly judged in the day of judgment.
