We continue the study of the Gospel of John chapter 19 starting at verse 25 with Dr. John G. Mitchell here on the Unchanging Word Bible study.

Our study today looks at Jesus on the cross speaking with Mary, His mother and the beloved disciple. Here Jesus takes care of His own.

Not only this, but Dr. Mitchell describes here how every Scripture prophetically given about Jesus, He literally fulfills.

The apostle John is also an eyewitness of Jesus fulfillment of Scripture as he says in verses 35 and 36.

Now, Jesus' words in verse 30 "It is finished" meaning "paid in full", comprises the complete fulfillment of all that was literally written for Him at His first coming, especially here with His death on the cross. So, how much more when He comes again, for His own -- literally?

As Dr. Mitchell walks us through this chapter, we see Jesus delivered over to be crucified. At it was 9:00 in the morning when Pilate said to the Jews, "Behold Your King." Jesus having been led out, was crucified between two thieves, He Himself in the center.

Dr. Mitchell emphasizes that wherever you find Jesus He is always the center. Dr. Mitchell will point us to the Word of God where five times, Jesus is the center of attraction.

Is He the focus of your attention when you read the Word? Is He at the center of your life? Good questions for each of us.

Now, let's turn to John 19 verse 13 with Dr. Mitchell speaking of the centrality of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On the Unchanging Word Bible Study, Dr. John G. Mitchell begins in John chapter 18:38.

The Jewish leaders had already decided in advance the verdict before the evidence was in concerning Jesus the Christ. They said in verse 7, they had a "law" and according to "our law", he ought to die.

God's divine revelation of Himself and of the Messiah in the Scriptures had now become for them merely a law book and that wrongly understood.

Dr. Mitchell places before us the fact that Jesus cannot be ignored. A person has to make a decision about Him. Have you decided for Him? Is He worthy of your trust? Is He the center of your attraction?

He loves you and on the basis of the Word of God, He will never reject you. So, come to Him who is able to give you life and that eternally which will never pass away.

Let's join Dr. Mitchell in John 18:38.

The Unchanging Word Bible Study continues in John 18 beginning at verse 19. Our study will be looking at Jesus as He is tried before the Jewish High Priest, and then Pontius Pilate the governor.

Dr. Mitchell brings out the different basis on which Jesus was tried. Before the religious court of the Jews, it was the issue of His person and His claims "Is He God? the Messiah of God"?.

And before the worldly political and civil court of Pilate, the issue of Jesus' character, "What evil has He done"? and political issue, "Are you a King?"

Jesus stood in the integrity of His person as God in the flesh as well as in the steadfastness of His sinless character. In doing so, He actually puts the religious and the political rulers of the world on trial.

On the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Dr. Mitchell will examine the verses 12-18 of John chapter 18.

In these verses, Jesus is taken captive by the temple guards and led to the High priest.

The Apostle John writes here about Peter whom John cared for and brought him from outside into the court of the high priest where John had entered with Jesus. Here Peter was confronted by a servant girl about being one of Jesus's disciples. This begins Peter's first denial of knowing and following Jesus.

From here, Dr. Mitchell will give us an overview of the trial of Jesus found in chapters 18 and 19. He will focus on the savior who was in complete control of the whole situation.

So with our focus our Savior, turn with us to the Gospel of John chapter 18 beginning with verse 12, with our teacher, Dr. Mitchell.

In Mark 10:32-34, we hear Jesus telling His disciples what would be and was converging upon Him in Jerusalem.

This will be the last time our Lord mentions His coming suffering, death and resurrection. This begins the last week of our Lord’s life on earth.

It is here that Our Lord refers, once again, to Himself as the Son of Man, His favorite title for Himself.

This is the title for the Messiah.

Up to this point in the book of Mark, Jesus has used this phrase, Son of Man, 7 times.

Mark writes this title for Jesus a total of 14 times in his Gospel with chapter 10:45 referencing His servanthood.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, Mark 10:32-34, showing us the Savior on the way to Jerusalem to suffer and die for you and me.

Here in Mark 10:22⁠, Mark records Jesus’ words as concerning the difficulty of those occupied with wealth to enter the kingdom of God.

Dr. Mitchell notes, it is not impossible, but it can be difficult for such a one who makes wealth a priority over a relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ.

1st Timothy 6:17 gives instruction for those believers, who are rich in this present age, to set their hope on God rather than on the uncertainty of riches.

Peter wanted to know what about the disciples who left everything to follow Jesus. What reward would they have?

They would have a family of God along with persecutions and in the age to come, eternal life.

Dr. Mitchell, Mark 10:22, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, says, “you never lose by giving to the savior.”

In Mark 10:17-22, Mark writes of a rich young man coming to Jesus, saying, “Good teacher”. Jesus asked him why he called Him good. No one one is good except one, God.

Jesus emphasizes the absolute goodness of God. Was the young man acknowledging Jesus as being absolutely good as well, as being God?

Dr. Mitchell brings out the ignorance of the young man, even in his own integrity, as to his actual condition before God.

Maybe you have done all you know to do thinking it would give you acceptance with God, even by religious ceremonies.

You may be like Cornelius,(Acts 10) a God fearing man, but still needing to hear the gospel message of salvation by grace.

Have you believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and your sins forgiven?

Here is Dr. Mitchell, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Mark 10:17.

The Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast continues in the Gospel of Mark. We are in chapter 10. We continue on from our previous lesson where Jesus had been confronted by the Pharisees as to whether it was lawful, e.g. legal for a man to send his wife away, e.g. divorce her. It concludes with Jesus welcoming little children.

Jesus speaks of God’s original purpose for man and woman to be joined together and to become one flesh no longer being two but one flesh.

Jesus pinpoints the reason why divorce occurs. It’s simply because of hardness of heart. Hardness of heart is a compound word meaning a ‘shriveled heart’, dried up and without any feeling, hardened, without any affection. Note this hardness toward the marriage partner is first of all, the result of a hardness against God and His Word.
