    Send us Fan Mail

Friendship.  As adults – particularly as working mummabears – friendships can be tricky.  Do you get anxious when you don’t hear back from a friend, or worry about what you said? Or do you shut people out, without a discussion? You may have a tendency toward an anxious or avoidant attachment style, depending on the situation.  We all get off the beam from time to time! In this episode of “Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear,” Master Certified Life Coach Melissa Wiggins dives deep into Attachment Theory – what it is, and how it affects our friendships. Have you thought about what kind of friend are you? What kind of friend do you want to be…or what kind do you want to have? When we are conscious of how we are showing up and how we want to show up, then we can change. Grab a cuppa and listen in.

Hello, lassies and lads, welcome to Coaching and a Cup of tea with Mummabear. I actually really do have my tea. And I'm drinking today chamomile and peppermint out of my cup from Harrods. Delicious. Okay, so this episode is titled attachment theory and why it's impacting your friendships. So you're gonna want to listen to this episode, if you are someone who has friendships in your life, there are maybe some parts of friendship for you that are a little challenging. We're gonna get into if you're the type of person who gets really anxious when someone doesn't respond to a text, or are you the type of frame to when someone asks you to lunch, you're all about where they want to go to lunch and what they want to eat. And we're going to get into why there is this relationship between attachment theory and how you're acting in friendship.

Okay, so attachment theory is basically having its moment and fame right now it is having what I like to call its five second sub theme, it really is being talked about, it feels like by everyone. What is attachment theory? So if you just go on to Google right now, last season, you check, like what is attachment theory? It talks a lot about the emotional bond between like a parent and a child and early ages. What is happening now is there are these incredible researchers, doctors, psychologists, therapists, life coaches who are out there talking about, hey, this isn't just impactful in that scenario, this is in relationships. This is how I not just with my parents, with my spouse, and now which what we're going to talk about as heaviness is really being and my friendships.

Now, I am an empowerment coach, I work primarily with mom, entrepreneurs, friendships, for mom, entrepreneurs, can be challenging. And so it has came up with a lot of my clients recently, which is why I started to just dive into the complexities of friendship. Now, last episode, I got very vulnerable about my own challenges with friendship, because I not only want to show the other side of me, the struggling side of me, I feel like I am like the queen of optimism, right?

What makes a good friendship? In this episode of “Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear,” Master Certified Life Coach Melissa Wiggins gets real about her stories of friendship, what to do when the stories we tell ourselves aren’t helpful, and how create friendships that are flexible instead of fragile.  Grab a cuppa and listen in.

Hello lassies and lads. Welcome to Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear. I missed you guys last week. If you are listening to do this in real time, you know that I live in Florida and hurricane in came through Florida and has really caused so much have a we are actually so lucky. We lost power for about three days, our local little town College Park, which is you know, just looks on to downtown Orlando had sent calls and the leaks came up onto the land. And a lot of people were flooded out of their homes, they lost their cars, sweet Sanibel Island where I go and do my solo trips, once or twice a year has really just been, you know, taken off of the world. And it is completely flattened. It is heart wrenching. And so our family have been trying to help people as much as we can. There are a lot of families in need. And if you're listening, and you're one of those amazeballs people who just kept checking in on my family and other people I know I just wanted to say thank you, and I missed you.

Okay to change completely, to go from something really sad to something really happy. I feel like that is the story of my life. If you have listened to this podcast for a while, you know that I see we find joy in the journey, we create the joy, we choose the joy, I am not one of those people that believes that your life has to be amazeballs. And all of the area's in order for you to enjoy it. I have some extremely difficult personal things I'm going through right now. And I also have lots and lots of joy. And I've shared a little bit of it that before during my son's journey, and most of you know he had pediatric cancer. And during that time, we were able to find joy. And so this podcast is super special.

If you are listening to this podcast right now and you're like, oh my gosh, what is the podcast called? What is she going to talk? I promise you a couple of things. I have a takeaway. And I'm going to be talking about friendship and women and why it's important for us. So you're going to want to stick around to hear all of the research about it. And also some personal stories.

Most of the time I give like a little weave of personal stories, but this one, I feel a little bit cold to get into a little bit deeper and a little bit more personal than normal. So if personal is not your jam, this might not be the best episode of mine's to listen to.

Hello, lassies and lads. Welcome to another amazing episode of Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear. It has been a crazy couple of weeks there is a lot going on, in MelissaWiggins.life and my company. I've got a lot to tell you lassies and lads. But before all of that, which is probably going to be an update in the next episode, I wanted to share an interview I did with well to you podcast with my good friend Sue McCarroll and her co host, Caitlin. So they are on a mission to be rebels on the diet culture, they are all about everything wellness, pilates, like they're just the most incredible souls. And they interviewed me all about pediatric cancer because September is pediatric cancer awareness month. So I have been speaking at schools, and events all about pediatric cancer, the impact of it, and our foundation, cannonball kids cancer.  So I don't talk about the foundation a lot on this podcast, because we are a life coaching podcast. But it's difficult for me not to talk about my life in September, when pediatric cancer is a huge part of my daily in this time, so I wanted to share it. I know you're going to love it. It's all about what do you do to take care of yourself when you're in a tough situation? So many of us have a lot of things that are going on, maybe you're going through something with your child, maybe you're going through a divorce. Maybe you're having a hard time with someone in your family or setting boundaries, whatever it is, how do you take care of yourself and those situations? So that's what this episode is all about. It has literal things you can do tangible takeaways, you know, that's my thing. And it's also a super fun episode and you're going to love it.

Hello, lassies and, lads. Welcome to Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear. We're in a new season, Season seven. And because this week was National Sobriety Day, I decided that one of the most popular episodes I've ever done was an interview I did with Amberly Lago, the author of True Grit and Grace. That's also the name of her podcast. And I also was with her last week. It is so crazy to me that last week I was in Texas with her and 30 of her master minders, spending the most incredible weekend being deeply, deeply inspired. I'm still floating on the high of it. But it reminded me of this incredible interview I did if you are looking for resilience, if you are looking to listen to a story about sobriety about what it's like to be at the pits of despair, and take it all the way to what she has done. You're gonna want to listen to this episode. Welcome to season seven, lassies. You're going to love this episode, there are lots of links in the show case notes. She has a mastermind that's open right now. They're about to get started. It's called Unstoppable Mastermind, you are going to want to check all of the notes out, and I hope you have the most amazeballs day.

     Melissa Wiggins There you are!

     Amberly Lago  02:15

Hi beautiful! Oh my gosh. You are so amazing.

     Melissa Wiggins I love i!

Amberly Lago Thank you so much. I've been looking forward to this every time I hear one of your messages or see one of your texts. It just goes straight to my heart. So I'm so grateful for you and thanking for that beautiful cost and everything that you do. I'm so grateful for you.

     Melissa Wiggins  02:42

Well, gratitude is one of the things I want to talk about. That's one of the subjects I want to talk about, because that's one of the things I resonated with in the book.

Hello, lassies Welcome to coaching and a cup of tea with Mama Bear, I have a very special guest who I'm very, very excited to introduce to you this whole season, we have been talking about money mindset, how women can make more money. And today we're actually going to talk about what are some of the things we can actually do if we have money, which is why I have Shannon Ward here. Because not only does she talk on her Instagram page, and with her clients about money, main say her real real gift to this universe of lassies is what do we do once we actually make the money. And last episode, I talked about how I love to give money away to charity, how that is a part of freedom for me that I love to do. But today, Shannon, would you introduce yourself and just tell everybody listening how amazing you are and why you're on this podcast?

    Shannon Brome-Ward  01:44

Oh, my gosh, thank you so much, Melissa. My name is Shannon Brome-Ward, and I'm a Money Mastery coach. And my whole job and desire about going out and talking about money is to kind of release that stigma that we have around money. I mean, it is so taboo. It is either we don't want to talk about it if we have it. And we don't want to talk about it if we don't have it, right. So primarily, I work with folks who are six figure earners, but they're living paycheck to paycheck. And for anybody who's made six figures or more, and they still find that they're struggling with why they don't have any money. And they Yeah, they can pay their bills. And that's great. But there's never anything left over. And there's a lot of stress around that. So I really work with folks on the mindset, but also the management and the mastery of money. Because there's a lot of stuff that we don't learn in school, from our families from our friends, because we don't talk about it, that really we can set ourselves up. So that money is being made for you while you're sleeping.

Mummabear: Hello, lassies and lads. Welcome to another episode of ‎Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear. And I have a very special episode. I feel very vulnerable giving this episode, but I always think when I'm feeling vulnerable, that is the exact reason why I need to give this podcast.

So this season, season six, which is so exciting, season six, we have been talking about women and money. We've been talking about money mindset, we've been talking about women and their relationship with money.

This episode is in particular for the working women, the women that earns money outside of the home or works from home, gets a paycheck essentially. It is for women who seek to know more about why it's important to make money, the purpose behind it. It is also for anyone thinking of going back to work. Okay.

Maybe your kids just started kindergarten like mines and you are ready to roll. And this episode is a hundred percent for you. It is also for the individual, the lassie, who seeks to make the world a better place. What do I mean by that? So I read this book. And I actually have it.

And it is by Laura Gassner Otting. And she goes by LGO. She did an incredible Ted talk. She's an incredible author, speaker, keynote speech. And I actually have been coached a little bit by her and mentored by her because she has been a working mom during her boys growing up. And in her book, she discusses why she left the non-profit world.

And if you've been around this podcast for a while, you know that my husband and I set up a non-profit Cannonball Kids' Cancer, and that I completely burned out. I had no more two AMs in me. And so we now have a whole team that runs it, which is amazing. And I get to have a more backseat.

    Melissa Wiggins:

Hello, last season lads, welcome to Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mama Bear. I'm very excited to have my friend and fellow master coach on today, Britney Dear, who is the money mindset expert, the person in the industry you want to talk to about anything money mindset related. She has helped me so much and so many people in my program. She coaches in my program and we just love her so much in Empowered Life. So I'm so excited to have you on here, Brittany.

    Brittany Deer:

Hello. Thank you for having me, friend.

    Melissa:

And she really is the money person. Honestly. My team just absolutely loved her and then everyone on Empowered Life, my six month coaching program was like, "When do we get Brittany back?" So she's going to be back for our next round. But today I thought I would have her on the podcast to just really talk about an issue that I think is really important, we really dig into in my coaching program, women and their mindset around money. Because it truly impacts how successful women are. Now I shared then last week's podcast that only 2% of female entrepreneurs are hitting seven figures. 2%. And I believe, and I know Brittany believes, that your mindset around money is truly a big part of that. Brittany, what is one of the things you hear the most about women and money when you start working with them?

    Brittany:

Oh my gosh. The most? There's tons, obviously, because it just depends. I always say that everybody's story is so different and there's so many different factors that go into someone's money story. So one of the most common is how they were raised, their childhood, or their own experience that they have, especially if they're into adulthood. Whatever that experience may be, it contributes to their story. But one of the biggest things that I hear often from women entrepreneurs is more worthiness. Not worthy of it, or even like, "Can I do this? Am I capable of doing this," type of thinking.

    Melissa:

I know that you've spoken about this and when you've coached my group about the women having a money temperature. Can you share with us what that means so that people listening can maybe try and take their own temperature? Because I just feel like such a good analogy.

    Brittany:

Yeah. It's just a measurement. Most of the time in life, we measure money by dollars or numbers and this is more of an emotional, mental measurement of where am I at in terms of what am I capable of with money. Am I capable of saving $5,000? Am I capable of saving $50,000?

Melissa Wiggins:  Well hello, lassies and lads, welcome to Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear. We're on a new season, this is so exciting, season six, let's go. I'm kicking it off with kind of a controversial topic, women and money, okay? I feel like it's so taboo to talk about money, and having coached lots and lots of lassies one-on-one, specifically mumma bears who are also either entrepreneurs or want to be entrepreneurs or corporate leaders, I've really come across money being this sort of crux for women, this thing that is hard to talk about, and also, so many limiting beliefs around money.

So when I was designing Empowered Life, my six-month mindset reset coaching program, one of the things I knew I had to really dig into was women and money, specifically money mindset. So we actually spend an entire month within the program sort of digging up our thoughts and opinions, our perception of women and money, our perception of our roles as working moms, and how that impacts us with money, and we really dig into it. And as you all know, because I'm sure if you're listening now by season six, you might have been around here for a while, I really try to dig into the research on different topics that I speak to, right? So I don't want to just give you information and say, "Hey, women have a hard time with money and women believe this," without really looking into what are some of the peer reviews, what are some of the studies saying? Yes, I have a sort of study myself with the women I coach, but what else?

And so in this episode, I really just want to do a short overview on some of the things I hear with women and money that I coach and what some of the research has said, and then for the next couple of episodes, I'm actually going to interview a money mindset expert who actually comes on our group coaching calls and coaches the lassies on money and mindset. Now, as you know, I think mindset is everything, okay? I truly believe when we start to understand how to master these tiny things in our head called brains that our whole life can change. And I appreciate I might sound a little bit dramatic, but I really, really mean that, okay? So let's go.
