    Melissa Wiggins:
Welcome to my Q&A about Empowered Life. So you are seeing this video because you are interested in coaching with me. And I am here to tell you all about the only offer I have, Empowered Life. This is it. This is the only thing that coach mama bear offers. This is the only way that you can work with me. And I have made this little presentation for you because I get questions in my Instagram messaging, I believe the young people call them DMs. I get emails and text messages and people asking me lots of different questions. So, because I am of the school of thought that I want to make life easy, I thought I would make a presentation so that I can send it to your inbox and let you know that Empowered Life is open and enrolling. What? It's very exciting. Okay. I opened twice a year, last season, twice. Okay. August is when we start and January. So if you are watching this in real-time, you will be applying for the August 2022 enrollment.

Melissa Wiggins:  Hello, lassies. Welcome to Coaching and A Cup of Tea With Mummabear. This episode is inspired by the three day easy summer webinar that I just finished. It was fire. I loved it. I loved every second of being around crazy, amazing, inspiring lassies and just giving them my brain for three days and giving them a beautiful work book and doing all of that for free, because summer can be challenging, and I wanted to make it as easy as possible.

One of the things we spoke about was decision fatigue. All right. Lassies, that is what this episode is about. Stay tuned, listen all the way to the end, because I'm going to tell you about some free information that I have available for you on this topic. I have a tool that is going to help you not get to the point of decision fatigue. Okay?

One of the things I talk about in Empowered Life a lot with the lassies is, listen, the only way that your company will not make it, the only way your job in corporate leadership will not make it is this, burnout. Burnout. It is not because you're not smart enough. It is not because you don't work hard enough, you don't have good enough ideas. It is none of those things, lassies. Okay?

What it is is we get burned out. How does that happen? We get overwhelmed. How do we get overwhelmed? Decision fatigue. All right. I have done so much research on this topic. I am going to give you my brain and everything that I know about decision fatigue in the most concise, easy way that I can explain it, you lassies know that is my heart. I love doing the research, I love taking big complicated subjects, reading lots of books, reading articles and turning them into something that you can take away as a tool. Okay?

    Melissa Wiggins:

Hello, lassies. Welcome to Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear. I am very excited today because I get to introduce you to one of my favorite people, Heidi Foster. And you're going to get to hear from her and all of the good stuff that she learned from Empowered Life.

One of the reasons why I wanted to have Heidi on is not only because she's amazing and you guys are going to love her and her energy, but also because she is a woman in corporate America. And the reality is that there are a lot of differences in terms of what's required of us living in the corporate world versus being an entrepreneur and being someone who maybe runs their business from online. And so I just thought it would be really helpful for you to hear. If you are a Heidi, why would you join Empowered Life, why would you get a life coach? And there's no one better to talk about it than Haiti Foster. Would you like to introduce yourself?

    Heidi Foster:

I would. Hello. I'm so excited to be here with you. I listen to your podcasts all the time and I'm so excited that I'm actually in one.

    Melissa:

    Woo hoo. So excited.

    Heidi Foster:

    I know, I know.

    Melissa:

    I love it.

    Heidi Foster:

So much fun. So much fun. So first and foremost, I think coaching is really for anyone, but specifically I think for what I do for a living, which is corporate sales, I work for a Fortune 100 company and I have for over 20 years. And I think when you're in sales, especially working for a large organization, maybe the coaching you have would be based on productivity, or efficiencies, or selling, but not maybe so much wellbeing. I feel like corporations are starting to take a look at that.

But for me, I just really needed some coaching that would help with the overall picture. Especially in the last few years, a lot has changed in corporate America. We've started working from home, our routine drastically changed, but we're still responsible for quotas and maintaining our business. And I think that it was a little bit of a formula for maybe a serious mental and emotional strain, to say the least.

    Melissa Wiggins:

Hello, lassies and lads, welcome to Coaching and a Cup of Tea With Mummabear, and I'm so excited because I have one of my favorite clients ever. I'm so pumped she's here. I have Hope and I would love for Hope to just give us a little introduction about who she is and how she ended up in empowered life.

    Hope:

    Hi, coach.

    Melissa:

I love that you called me that. It's great. I'm just like, "I love it. I am coach. That's right."

    Hope:

I've met coach several years ago when our kids were in kindergarten together. So I knew of her always was attracted to her infectious personality, followed her on social media. And then recently I got to turning 40 and saw her EmpoweredLife stuff and coaching. I was really intrigued but scared and a little like, "Should I do it? Should I not do it? Do I want it? Do I not want it?" So I think for me, I was just looking for some purpose. I was looking for not winging it. I wanted to get intentional and be me and kind of ask myself what do I want and see what that did and kind of focus on me and not the survival mode of young kids.

Melissa: I love that you say that you were scared to do it because I remember when I signed up for my first coaching and it was $10,000, and it was a massive investment, same as empowered life. And I remember just being so scared. And it's like, when we talk about in the program, right? Our feelings can win or we can win, right? So I always think about, if I want to win, I can feel scared, but I also have to do it anyway, right? It's like that's how I get to win and not allow my feelings to win. And I love that you say that you were scared because I think that a lot of people are scared when you invest a big amount of money, right?

Hope: Yes. And I think I was scared of what I would find, what we would talk about. And then I was scared probably at the time of people pleasing. What are people going to think when I tell someone I have a life coach? Jacob is, "Oh, is there something going on?" But it's all about me, right? It was all about what I want for me, no one else. And just pouring into who I am and what's next for me as my kids get older and I'm trying to find goals. I didn't know how to write a goal until I came to you, for real.

Melissa Wiggins: Welcome to Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear. I am so very excited for this episode, I have one of my amazeballs clients and friend, and I cannot wait for you to hear all the fire that she is about to deliver for the next 30 minutes. Please help me welcoming Stephanie Bowman. Stephanie, who the heck are you? Why are you on this podcast?

    Stephanie Bowman:

First, I want to say thank you. Thank you. Thank you, what an honor to be here with you today. So my name is Stephanie Bowman, and I'm the founder of One Heart For Women And Children. I'm also a life coach, I am a speaker, and I am a lover of humans.

    Melissa Wiggins:

You really are a lover of humans, and Stephanie is loved beyond measure in the community that both her and I live in, which is Central Florida and Orlando. And we have known each other for a very long time, and we were friends before we had our coaching relationship.

But the reason I wanted to bring Stephanie on today, was I really want to have people who listen in, to figure out, "Is coaching for me?" And I think often, we think that if you have all your ducks in a row, and things together, you don't need a life coach, or you don't need a business coach, or why would you need a group program? And Stephanie, I feel like is an amazing example, within my six month coaching program, Empowered Life, of why would you invest more into yourself? Why would you join a six month coaching program? And so, I thought it would be really fun to hear from someone who's been on the front cover of magazines, and on television, and speaks in different countries. And I have chills, she's just a phenomenal human being. And so, why Stephanie, would you join a program called Empowered Life?

Stephanie Bowman: One of the things my grandfather said to me, when I was a super young child. He said, "Remember something, Stephanie, you will always at different times be the student, and always at different times, be the teacher, and knowing when that time for each is appropriate." So for myself, being a life coach and coaching others, I think it's really, really important that I too have a life coach, just like in Alcoholic Anonymous, I'm 23 years, clean and sober. So part of that was also always having, we call them sponsors, which they're mentors in the 12 Step Program.

    Melissa Wiggins:

So we have spent a little bit of time talking about a lot of the life coaching element. And one of the things that is a byproduct of this program is the impact on your actual businesses. And so Karen, I know we've had a lot of stations that are really you putting your values into your company, right? And really pushing into. And a lot of the time even last week, when we talked about should you do this or that, really me questioning you to create a power in you so that you know what is right for your company. And so I'd love for you to just talk a little bit about some of the byproduct impact you feel since doing Empowered Life and your actual Bar Method franchise.

    Karen Marino:

Yes. For sure. Like I said, I know that we keep going back to the values, but using my values in how I run my business has been such a huge shift in my thoughts and just how I go about my day. Obviously connection. Our studio is all about community and connection, not just with our clients, but with my staff. I've always felt extremely close to my staff. And sometimes there was always... Not sometimes there was always. That doesn't even make sense. There were people along the way who said, "You have to keep your distance appropriately with your staff." And I was always like, "It just doesn't feel right to be that way." And there's always those people saying, "Oh, you should do it more professionally. You should do it this way."

    Karen Marino:

And this helped me realize, connection being my strongest value, no, that's why it didn't feel right to run my business like that. And I have had staff from the very beginning. This is a small part-time job for my staff and they are wholly committed as if it were a 60 hour a week job. And I know it's because I connect to them at that different level. I care about them. They're like family to me. We enjoy each other. We have fun together, yet they know I have set standards and expectations for them, but I do it the way that feels right for me. And this has helped me lead to that recognition and acceptance with this is how I do it. And of course we all have to adjust and modify and nothing is ever done just the right way.

Melissa: Hey, welcome to Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear. I'm so excited because I actually have guests today. Oh my gosh. Lucky me. I'm not just talking by myself in my office, which happens most of the time. But I have two incredible guests who are a part of Empowered Life. And today we're going to talk all about Empowered Life, what has happened in their life since they started coaching, why they started this coaching program, and why they're going to do it again. So Diana Gleason, why don't you introduce yourself, beautiful lassie?

Diana Gleason: Hi, my name is Diana Gleason. I am the owner of DG Consulting Services. It is a remote bookkeeping firm for small businesses. I happen to also be a very busy mama. I have twin seven year old boys. And I'm a wife. And I do all the things.

Melissa: You really do do all the things. It's amazing. I love it. And also the best keeper in the world and also my bookkeeper. So you must hire her immediately.

    Diana Gleason: Thank you.

Melissa: And we also have beautiful, beautiful Karen. Why don't you introduce yourself, Karen?

Karen Marino: Hi everyone. My name is Karen Marino and I own a fitness studio called the Bar Method. It's a workout that uses a ballet bar as a tool. You don't have to know ballet or dance at all. It's made for the common folk, like me and you. And I've owned it for almost 11 years, which I cannot believe.

    Melissa Wiggins:

Hello, last lassies and lads. We're about to do a very, very special episode. For the first time in the history of Coaching and a Cup of Tea With Mummabear, I have a very special guest who is sitting aside of me, and his name is Dr. Gray or Gray James Roland Wiggins or Gray Roland Wiggins. And he currently has a monarch butterfly on his finger because we grew it from a caterpillar because that's just the kind of summer we're going to have. And so he was in here while I was recording a podcast, and he said, "Hey Mom, can I do that with you?" And I thought, "Well, why not? Of course. You can be on my podcast. Isn't that one of the perks of having a mom that has a podcast?" And so we're just going to chat about what is it like to have a mom like me? Gray, do you want to answer that question?

    Gray: Maybe.

Melissa Wiggins: All right, go. You can talk in here.

Gray: It's cool and kind, he's nice. And this butterfly...

    Melissa Wiggins:

And you can't see us, but we have a butterfly that's flying all around us. What do you think an easy summer would be like, Gray? If you were going to say you wanted to have an easy summer, what stuff would that involve?

    Gray: Swimming.

    Melissa Wiggins: Oh, swimming, yes.

Gray: Playing games with the family and other sports.

    Melissa Wiggins:

Other sports? What's your favorite thing about summer?

Gray: Having fun with my family.

Melissa Wiggins: Having fun with your family? What is the most fun thing that you think we're going to do this summer?

    Gray: Going to Scotland.

Melissa Wiggins: Going to Scotland. Yes, let's go. And London.

    Gray: Yes.

    Melissa Wiggins: You like traveling?

    Gray: Yes, I love traveling.
Melissa Wiggins: You love traveling? That's so cool.

    Gray: And South Carolina.

Melissa Wiggins: And we're go to South Carolina to the...

    Gray: Tomorrow.

Melissa Wiggins: Lake house. Tomorrow at five in the morning. What?

    Gray: Four.

Melissa Wiggins: Four? Oh Lord. So my children are morning people like me. What do you think about mummy working? Do you like that I have a job?

    Gray: Yes.

    Melissa Wiggins: Yeah?

    Gray: Yeah.

    Melissa Wiggins: Why?

Gray: Because it's cool for everyone to see it.

    Melissa Wiggins:

Hello, lassies and lads. Welcome to “Coaching and a Cup of Tea with MummaBear. How are you today? (singing). I just thought I would sing a little bit. I hope that you are in your car and maybe you just dropped off the kids and you need a little inspiration for today. I hope to provide that.

Welcome to another new episode. I am loving these solo episodes, it is such a testament to “Start Before You're Ready,” which is one of the earlier podcasts that I did. And if you have not listened to it, you should stop listening to this one and go back and listen to it.

But essentially I started doing these solo podcast because I really wanted to push out a lot of the material that I was creating for my incredible EmpoweredLife group, which is my six month group coaching program. And it's so funny because it was inspired by one of my clients that were in that. And they said, "I just really wish I could send this to my son and to my husband." And I thought, "Hmm. I wonder if I could do short, mini podcasts that people could just share with their friends and would be really easy and short to listen to," and also give something at the end of each episode that people could actually go try, like a tangible thing.

So I've really been trying to do that. Hopefully in most of them, I have given you a little task, a little homework, if you will. So everyone seems to be loving them. A couple of episodes back, I did one called the “Wall of Wins,” and you lassies and lads have sent me all of your wall of wins and they are just life giving. I love it so much because there's nothing more delightful for a creator, right? If someone that's creating content to help you with your life, to see that you are actually doing it and then sharing it with your friends.

So onto today's episode, which is called, “Write It Down.” I know it's not super complicated. So you will also notice on this podcast that my goal is to make everything easy. I have on my wall downstairs, a sign that I had made by one of my incredible coaching clients. She owns this amazing interior design company. And I had her make signs for my house that really inspire me. And she made me one and I asked her to make it and it's called “It Is Easy.” Because I'm trying to train my brain to stop always thinking about what makes everything hard, and Write It Down is very simple.

I have a really exciting episode today because it's about having an Easy Summer, and you can stop rolling your eyes now. I get it, the word easy and the word summer together can be tough. But I believe in you. I believe in our team, and I believe that we can do this. And because of that, I have created, I'm so excited, a very cool, fun, community-based, lassies together webinar. And it's free.

So for three days, I'm going to show up live for you. I'm going to coach you. It's going to be interactive. You're going to be able to send in questions. I've already created a Facebook page, and listen. Oh, it just makes my heart so happy because the lassies are already on there, introducing themselves. They're talking about some of the hard things that come with being a working mother and also having children at home for the summer.

And really this rule applies, whether your kids are very little and require lots of attention or whether they are older, because the mom guilt that many of us experience really is across the board, right? Whether you have a 17-year-old sitting playing gaming all day, or like me, you have a four-year-old who wants to play tea time. Okay? We love you, Charlie. I love my tea parties with you, if you ever listen to this podcast one day when you're older, sweet girl. Okay?

So easy summer was inspired by my clients. So in our coaching in EmpoweredLife, we've been talking a lot about just some of the expectations of summer and what it does to our mom brains when we feel like we are failing at all of the things. And it's funny, when I started researching easy summer and hard summer, this will just blow your mind.

Okay, easy summer hashtag had less than 1000 times it was used. Hard summer hashtag, look it up. There's literally like 500,000 times it's been shared. Why? Because a lot of us get a lot of anxiety when we're moving into summer because we have to figure out childcare help for our kids. We have a lot of guilt around how much we work, when we work. And so talking to my clients, talking to my team, and saying like, how can we help?
