Today on Change Agents, Andy sits down with former secret service agent and expert on bioterrorism, Steve Monteiro.

Steve spent over twenty years as a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service and also served in the U.S. Navy, where he received training in cryptology. As a member of the elite Presidential Protective Division at the White House, he later became the Special Agent in Charge and Director of the Forensic Crime Laboratory.

His career took a pivotal turn when he became a Senior Advisor to the Director of Weapons of Mass Destruction Intelligence at the Department of Homeland Security, focusing on bioterrorism. For his efforts in working with Iraqi scientists, he was awarded the Director of National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation. He is the author of The Gray Bird of Baghdad: An Ex-Secret Service Agent's Desperate Mission to Save an Iraqi Scientist and currently hosts The Monteiro Report podcast.
