¡Es nuestro quincuagésimo episódio! That means we've been around for fifty episodes! So Jonny and Aileen watch a movie from the land of lakes and volcanoes that brought them together, Nicaragua. The only horror movie associated with Nicaragua, so far, The Lost Platoon tells of an American reporter covering a civil war in Nicaragua who rediscovers four immortal soldiers that saved his life during WWII. Our hosts reminisce about their youth in Nicaragua, talk about the Contras, Nicaraguan-Soviet relations, and the prolific careers of David A. Prior and David Winters.

It's rare treat for Jonny & Aileen to see a movie in real time with its release, so our hosts jumped at the chance to watch Maxi Contenti's Al Morir La Matinée, that just came out in the US this August. A slasher film mixed with giallo, Al Morir La Matinée shows a rainy day in Montevideo where a group of strangers go to the movies, but one of those strangers is hungry for more than popcorn. Our hosts also talk of Uruguay's Dia del Cine Nacional, the 90s Uruguayan radio program Radio Los Ojos de la Noche, and Maxi Contenti's love letter to the movie theater experience.
You can find Al Morir La Matinée in most VOD streaming services.

Jonny and Aileen go back to Uruguay on the nostalgia train. Muñeco Viviente V, by Maxi Contenti, is a DIY home movie with a lot of heart. With references to Nintendo, Jurassic Park and Goosebumps, it's the movie we all wanted to make on the weekends when we were young, using our dads' camcorder. Bruno is a teen with an odd past. Every summer, a plastic action figure comes alive to threaten his life. Between his relationship with his weird friends and his neglectful parents, Bruno will have to become a hero to end once and for all el Muñeco Viviente. Plus, Verano Chin Chin is a song you can't miss!
