Vikings Happy Hour

In today’s episode of Two Old Bloggers - a lot of Minnesota Vikings fans are looking ahead to next week with a possible matchup with the 7-1 Buffalo Bills. They need to work on the Washington Commanders first. Your Vikings are playing the Commanders and have to beat them to continue their winning streak. The Bills play the NY Jets and will have to do the same thing, but this pregame show focuses on the contest against the Commanders.

Darren and Dave will be focusing on three things with the first being, does the TJ Hockenson trade make the Vikings a Super Bowl contender? The second is that the Vikings need to play better, especially at three positions: cornerback, right guard, and kicker. Cameron Dantzler, Ed Ingram, and Greg Joseph all need to improve, but the whole team does as well so that it can punch above its weight. Thirdly we’re here to break down the Vikings versus Commanders game.

Can the screen door-kicking Taylor Heinicke lead his team against one of the hottest teams in the NFC and win? We hope not, and will explain why. Find out why on today’s show.

This and more today on 2OB.

Here are the themes for the show:

Theme #1: Does the T.J. Hockenson trade make the Vikings a Super Bowl contender?

Theme #2: Vikings who have to play better

Theme #3: Vikings at Commanders

On this Vikings Happy Hour🍻, the bar is open and we’re talking football! The Minnesota Vikings are coming off their win of the Arizona Cardinals that highlighted how some of the older players like Patrick Peterson and Harrison Smith were playing like they’re in their prime. But, the big news of the week came yesterday when Kwesi Adofo-Mensah with the blessing of Kevin O’Connell, traded for T.J. Hockenson, one of the top tight ends in the league from NFC North rival Detroit Lions. Was the trade an indication that the Vikings are all in for the season? Is it equivalent to what the Rams did pushing all the chips in last season? Hopefully if it was or wasn’t necessarily an all in move, the results will be the same with a Super Bowl run. Did the trade make the Vikings better? Does this fall into the category of competitive rebuild like Kwesi described in the off-season? Come and join the discussion!

Remember to grab your Lake Monster Beer and go order your Badass WoodArt with promo code CTPocket for 20% off any one item!

Discussion topics for episode 071 are:

- Vikings trade for TJ Hockenson

- Vets playing like vintage selves, can they sustain?

- What to do with our ‘problem Children’ (Greg Joseph & Ed Ingram)

We do a local media prediction each week on Vikings Happy Hour and they’ve honestly been some of my favorite weekly segments.

This week our prediction came from our friend Declan Goff @DexsTweets of @SKORNorth and he did not disappoint!

🔥Viking Hot Takes🔥 is back after false starts, holding calls, and pass interference on the highways of Los Angeles. The Minnesota Vikings traded with the Detroit Lions for tight end T.J. Hockenson. They are asked to grade the trade. What is your take on the trade? The guys take a critical eye on the team and wonder if they are as good as previous Vikings teams starting 6-1. Are they? Will they have the same success or more? This, and their questions get you thinking.

Join us as Flip from Climbing The Pocket will battle Eric Thompson from the Daily Norseman for the 40th episode of Viking Hot Takes on the Climbing The Pocket channel on Tuesday night. You read that right. In this episode, Flip and Eric follow the usual format of the show, with 3 questions each in the 20-minute, and no rolling around on bear skin rugs or doing mushrooms. That would be weird.

Flip asks:

1. Grade the TJ Hockenson trade.

2. What’s the biggest hole on the Vikings' starting roster?

3. When was the last time the Vikings were 6-1?

Eric asks:

1. Is Irv Smith Jr. done in Minnesota?

2. On a scale of 1-10, how much do you trust Greg Joseph?

3. Which seed will the Vikings get in the NFC playoffs?

Fan with us!!! Flip Mazzi @Flipmazzi and Eric Thompson @eric_j_thompson go back and forth, and a spot by producer Dave @Luft_Krigare as part of a @Climb_ThePocket Network’s & @DailyNorseman’s production. Also, with our newest partner at CTP, Lake Monster Brewing @LakeMonsterBrew as we venture beneath the surface in search of something unknown and extraordinary. This is in their wonderful beverage selections and our coverage of your favorite team. And if you are into some rocking wood art, check out That’s Bad Ass Wood Art at @thatsbadassmn.

The Minnesota Vikings vs Arizona Cardinals and it will be another test for this team. Can they continue to find a way to win? They did. Will they play a more complete game where the offense, defense, and special teams work hand in hand to compliment each other? They did. Can Kirk Cousins have a big day against a defense that is known to weak against the pass but strong against the run? He had a fair game 24/36 and 2 TDs in the air and 22 yards and a TD on the ground. On today’s episode of Two Old Bloggers - we have a game ahead as your Minnesota Vikings host the Arizona Cardinals. As usual, the guys will start out with three topics of discussion. First, we’re gonna be asking, is stability at quarterback a good thing? Do you realize that Kirk Cousins has played for the Vikings longer than most quarterbacks in the franchise’s history? Has that brought success? Not to this point, but could pay off dividends this year? Let’s hope so.

As we all know, the NFL trade deadline looms this Tuesday at 3 PM central, and the question will be, are the Vikings going to be buyers in that market? There have been reports that they have been talking to teams about certain players throughout the last couple of weeks. Will any of those materialize?

Then we get to take on Kyler Murray. We all know that Call Of Duty came out in a multi-player role this week that it has always been an Achilles’ heel for him. Will he be an absolute menace on the field or will he be distracted and quickly taking taken advantage of by the Vikings' defense? It is a good question we will have to see. Who else on the Cardinals team can cause the Vikings troubles? We will find out on today's show.

This and more today on 2OB.

Here are the themes for the show:

Theme #1: Is stability at the QB position a good thing?

Theme #2: Should the Vikings make any moved at the trade deadline?

Theme #3: Vikings vs Cardinals
