Your Minnesota Vikings are at the NFL Combine taking in all the action. They are looking at the numbers and performances of players that will be on their draft board. The NFL Draft is coming at the end of April, however, NFL Free Agency will come about at the start of the league year on 16 March. Legal tampering starts on the 14th, and illegal tampering is already underway [wink, wink] offsite at the many fine establishments in Indianapolis.

Darren and Dave today will be looking at all 3, from highlighted players at the Combine, the interior offensive line prospects in free agency, and our Deep Thoughts/Deep Dive segment on the Vikings’ running back group. Are there players in all three of these groups that can contribute to the Purple’s quest to be the best? Absolutely! Will the Vikings’ brass select, acquire, or scheme them to get there? That is unknown at this time, but it will be fun discussing until we find out, yes?

The Minnesota Vikings team staff, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, Kevin O’Connell, along with their respective staffs are in Indianapolis for the NFL Combine. Kwesi had his press conference today and KOC will have his tomorrow. All sorts of things from interviews, player evaluations, talking with player reps, etc., take place in this week-long event. We may watch for 40 yard dash times or bench press reps, but what happens behind closed doors and in the steak houses and bars can mean much more for where the team is heading. Your Minnesota Vikings held a press conference this week, where head coach Kevin O’Connell introduced the new coordinators on his staff. You have Wes Phillips taking over as offensive coordinator, Ed Donatell as defensive coordinator, and Matt Daniels as special-teams coordinator. Darren and Dave will get into these gentlemen and how their schemes will affect what we see on the field on Sundays.

We will focus on the "multiples" fronts that Ed Donatell described in his question and answer period with the press. What is the difference between a 4-3 defense and a 3-4 defense, and how the nickel defense can use both even and odd-man fronts.
