  • Vikings vs Offseason - GMG - Holes to Fill
Vikings vs the Offseason… Good morning Horners! The Good Morning Gjallarhorn gang is back after the week off to mourn the 2019 Vikings season. Ted, Drew and Dave discuss the holes to fill in the 2020 version of your Minnesota Vikings, and there are a lot. We also discussed the salary cap situation, and coaches that have left the team.
Ā From key players on defense like Anthony Harris, starters like Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander. backups like Eric Wilson and Stephen Weatherly are all due to be free agents. The offense fairs only a little better with CJ Ham being the only ā€œstarterā€ as free agent but swing tackle Rashod Hill and other backups are at the end of their contracts too. Then there is the specialists, Dan Bailey and Britton Colquitt, both needing new contracts or walking to other teams. All of this with the Vikings already approximately $10 million over the cap. Huge decisions to free up money are on the horizon. How would you go about it? Which veterans get cut to make space?
Ā Drew asks us how would we sell the Vikings 2020 to fans and investors. What do we have to look forward to? Mike Zimmer has a good winning percentage, the offense got better, and of course there’s the traditions. Either way, this offseason will be a huge challenge and key to organization staying on or near the top, or failing and heading to a rebuild and new faces.

  • Vikings vs 49ers - GMG In The Raw! Post Playoff Special
Vikings vs 49ers… Good morning Horners! Well, maybe not so good, but the sun will come up again I’m told. A very lubed up Dave, Ted and sober Drew went live after the game to discuss the Minnesota Vikings loss against the San Francisco 49ers. After a disappointing 3 and out to start the game, fans were worried and it was justified. The Vikings did manage to keep the game in reach through the first half, but due to even more failed drives, 7 of which were 3 and outs [6 punts and failed 4th down conversion], plus a 3rd down interception, the Vikings defense was on the field almost 2/3rds of the game. Jimmy Garoppolo picked on Xavier Rhodes early and often, and the Niners were able to run the ball effectively, leading to a subpar result.
Ā Coming out cold, poor play calling, and pressure up the middle leading to a bad Kirk Cousins day, meant the Vikes were not going to be advancing. It is now going to be time for change. It will be needed going into the next few days, weeks and months. Welcome to the offseason people!
Ā Good Morning Gjallarhorn will be here with you as Vikings news is generated. We look forward to it and hope that you do too. Cheers!

  • Vikings vs 49ers - GMG Preview Show Divisional Round Special
Vikings vs 49ers… Good morning Horners! The Vikings are in the San Francisco area getting ready to take on the #1 seed 49ers in what we all hope is another momentum gathering affair. Ted, Drew and Dave will break down what should be ā€˜the’ game of 2019/20. There were things that we took from the marvelous win over the Saints that can be applied to this game. We all hope Mike Zimmer has more up his coaching sleeve to confuse and confound Kyle Shanahan and Jimmy Garoppolo. We’re ready for the game. Are you?
Ā Ted talks about how he thinks the victory in New Orleans might just be that piece that mentally pushes Kirk Cousins over the top, from the QB that can’t win the big one, to one that he now has the confidence and skills to win from here on out. With heavy doses of Dalvin Cook looking to run against one of the few 49er weaknesses, their run defense, to Kirk hitting Adam Thielen or Stefon Diggs over and under to make a safety to commit leaving the other open, and to generate time eating drive ending in scores, and lots of them. The veterans on the defense stepping up, not being overwhelmed by the atmosphere and playing their best because they have been to the playoffs before. They know what this game means, not only for advancing but to each other and to the fans.
Ā Drew runs another round of his trivia challenges and this one focuses on 1987, the year the Vikings beat the #1 49ers headed by Joe Montana. Anthony Carter had a career day that day and the Vikings advanced. We all hope that is the case Saturday. Plus, you can’t miss Drew’s story at the end. He was there at the ’87 game, and the tales of glory and hilarity are priceless. what a better way to start your game day than laughing at such a great day.
Ā Get ready to rock and roll, and as Everyone Griffen says it, ā€œGo Get It!ā€

  • FMF 311 | Underdog Dreams
Welcome to the 2019 Divisional Playoffs! Yinka joins Flip for another 30 minute playoff special! New information is out on Stefon Diggs and his passion seems to have a positive effect on the team. After a close call the Vikings believe Adam Thielen's stitches will heal in time for the game against San Francisco. The 49ers defense started to struggle at the end of the year. Their offense is similar to Minnesota's and the Vikings defense must tackle well. Stop George Kittle and put more pressure on a team that isn't used to playoff environments.
