I’ve been lucky to have known Jesse Moynihan for over twenty years and met him when he lived in West Philly in the early 2000’s. He is honestly one of the hardest working, nicest, and most talented artist and musician I’ve ever known. I’m equally a huge fan of his art (Art Directing/Storyboard Artist) work (Forming/Adventure Time/Midnight Gospel) as much as the band he is in “Make A Rising”. It’s one of my favorite all time bands. Bio

Jesse Moynihan is a cartoonist and animation director. He is best known for writing and storyboarding for the animated television series ‘Adventure Time’ and as the art director on the Netflix series ‘The Midnight Gospel’. He created the animated short ‘Manly’ through Cartoon Hangover and continues to produce the graphic novel series ‘Forming’ for Fantagraphics Books. His latest short film, Jesus 2 is currently screening at film festivals such as Fantastic Fest and Sundance.

Before returning to the big screen, the Muppets returned to the writers' room. Marjorie Taylor Greene Showed My Photo In A DOGE Hearing And Called Me A Monster. Here's Why I’m Fighting Back. Late last month, I was surprised to wake up to a flurry of text messages: “Girl, you’re all over Congress!” As I opened link after link, I was met with a surreal array of photos showing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene leading a DOGE subcommittee hearing, and to my surprise, behind her was an oversized portrait of me. I rolled my eyes and dreamed about going back to bed.

As a drag queen who reads and writes children’s books, this was certainly not the first time I have faced attacks, by politicians and otherwise. My books have been challenged and banned, events have been protested, and my name and likeness have been used in myriad disingenuous attempts to stoke fear about LGBTQ+ people, including by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. However, it was the first time that I had been directly referenced in the halls of Congress.

My first thought to myself was: At least she chose a gorgeous photo. Ironically, it was one of my own headshots depicting a friendly smile and red, white and blue sequin stars — a stark contrast to Greene’s own scowling face that dominated press photos of her testimony. My second: It’s funny that Greene and other MAGA Republicans have yet to learn that it’s a bad idea to pick a fight with a drag queen. Still, Greene’s comments were no laughing matter: Given her long track record as a conspiracy theorist and anti-LGBTQ+ crusader, Greene unsurprisingly spread not only slanderous hate but also defamatory disinformation. She cited me as a reason to eradicate federal funding for PBS and NPR, contending that NPR and PBS “push some of the most radical left positions, like featuring a drag queen on the show Let’s Learn.”

She continued: “[A]s a mother who raised three children, I felt confident that I could leave the room while my own children were watching children’s programming on PBS. But … if I had walked in my living room or one of my children’s bedrooms and seen this child predator and this monster targeting my children, I would become unglued.”

Needless to say, her already highly unglued name-calling insinuates claims about me that are patently false. She is correct that I once appeared on the public television program “Let’s Learn,” reading my picture book “The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish” — a playful parody meant to encourage kids to express their inner fabulousness. But the reality, as PBS CEO Paula Kerger made clear, is that the show was produced by local affiliate WNET, not by PBS itself.

Additionally, her rhetoric suggesting that LGBTQ-affirmative media is a form of “sexualizing and grooming … brainwashing and transing children” is not only false, but offensive. As I noted in my initial response: This rerun is tired and boring. That is, it is part of a well-worn playbook that goes back decades, as exemplified by Anita Bryant’s “Save Our Children” campaign of the 1970s, and which has sadly been mainstreamed by Republicans in recent years.

“As a child in the 1980s Damon Devine watched the PTL Club on Sunday morning TV at his great-grandmothers house. Outside of her, he had no family after she passed away. Having moved to Los Angeles alone in 1990 he met Tammy Faye some years later after seeing the documentary The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Despite religious differences, Tammy took him under her wing, and there began a years long mother/son type of relationship that lasted until Tammy’s passing in 2007. “

My name is Jason Joshua, I go by many names like “La Voz De Oro” “El Que Soñas Con Los Ojos Abierto” “ El Principe Del Swing” but you can call me Jason. I was born in Hialeah, Florida and raised in North Miami/ Carol City & Hialeah, all boroughs of the beautiful city of Miami, Florida. I am a musician, composer, producer, instrumentalist but mostly a singer. I write & produce most of my music and for others as well. In 2020 I released my first album “Alegría y Tristeza” two weeks before the pandemic. Since then I have been working on my follow up album “La Voz De Oro” and getting ready for a world wide tour.

I’m honestly humbled by all the love that I have received period but especially on my songs including tribute tattoos, which is so special . I really love my fans & listeners, and wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them. My fans , family & God are my biggest source of inspiration. I get everything from them.

What sets me apart from the others to me is my style and my songs not to mention my live shows , I let my music do the talking.

Ep. 147: Scott Crawford (Documentary Filmmaker)

Scott Crawford has spent much of his life devoted to documenting independent culture. His 2015 debut feature-length documentary, SALAD DAYS: A DECADE OF PUNK IN WASHINGTON, DC was critically-acclaimed, receiving accolades from The New York Times, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Rolling Stone and others. His follow-up documentary, CREEM: AMERICA’S ONLY ROCK’N’ROLL MAGAZINE, debuted at the 2019 SXSW Film Festival and won several awards during its festival run including the “Spirit of Michigan Award” at the FREEP Film Festival. His latest documentary entitled “Something Better Change” premiered at the 2024 Woodstock Film Festival.

Ep. 146: Soltero (Staying Alive Album)

Soltero plays a blend of fuzzy rock, jangly pop, and lofi folk songs. The band began in Boston in 2001 as Tim Howard's songwriting project, supported by a rotating cast of friends. In 2018 Tim moved to Berlin, where he met bassist Patti Vacek and drummer Ludwig Kreuzer.

Staying Alive is Soltero's ninth record.

Arlene Gottfried was a photographer of the under-represented and underprivileged. While Gottfried shot assignments for The New York Times, LIFE, Time and Newsweek among others she is best known for her photographs of life on the streets of New York City. It was Gottfried’s identification with her subjects that truly set her above the rest.

Gottfried spent her early childhood in Coney Island, living above the hardware store that her father and uncle owned. At the age of nine her family moved to Crown Heights where the Puerto Rican culture captured her attention and expanded her view of the world. She studied photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology where she was the only woman in her class. She later moved to Manhattan and found work at a photo agency doing commercial and advertising work.

In 2011 Gottfried told Paul Moakley of TIME, “My mother used to say ‘Arlene– just don’t wander!’ Then I started wandering, but I got a camera because it gave it a little more meaning…a life of wandering is really what it all is.” Gottfried’s wandering took her to every corner of New York including the Gospel churches of Upper Manhattan where she discovered her powerful voice as a soloist gospel singer and became known as “The Singing Photographer”. She also wandered into the drug dens of the Lower East Side to empathetically photograph herion addicts, she was accepted into the Nuyorican culture downtown and spent years documenting her beloved friend Midnight as he struggled with mental health problems. Gottfried photographed three generations of women in her family, intimately portraying life and death and continued to captured the excitement of everyday life in her hometown of New York City.

Gottfried is prominently featured in the film “Gilbert” a documentary on her brother, the comedian Gilbert Gottfried. Her work has been published in five monographs, “The Eternal Light”, “Midnight”, “Sometimes Overwhelming”, “Bacalaitos & Fireworks” and “Mommie”. Her artwork has been featured in The New York Times, TIME, LIFE, The Guardian, CBS News and elswhere. Her photographs are held in the collections of The Brooklyn Museum, The Jewish Museum, The Tang Teaching Museum, The North Carolina Museum of Art and the New York Public Library among others.

Gabriel Amzallag b.k.a. Mc Blue Matter is an artist from Paris, France. MC Blue Matter specializes in album covers, merch design, illustration, and animation. He has made illustrations for the likes of Illa J, Blu & Exile, Curtis roach, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Guilty Simpson just to name a few. MC Blue Matter regularly collaborates with Jakarta records as a graphic designer/illustrator and an a&r. He is a part of the creative talent agency Project FILO, and also regularly writes for The Find Mag. His work has been featured in media outlets such as Complex UK, Earmilk, Beware Magazine, Pitchfork and more.
