Walk Humbly

In honor of Veterans Day, Bishop Burbidge shares the story of Fr. Vincent Capodanno, a U.S. Navy chaplain who was awarded the Medal of Honor for heroic service ministering to troops during the Vietnam War.

Have you ever noticed that a conversation becomes more personal when you call the other person by name? Jesus knows us all personally and calls us individually, walking with us through adversity. He invites us to a more intimate friendship with Him every day.

In this week’s episode of the Walk Humbly Podcast:

National Vocations Awareness week, Veterans Day, and World Day of the Poor are only a few of the celebrations and memorials taking place this month Bishop Burbidge reflects on where we are in the Amazon Synodal process The Feasts of All Saints and All Souls are a reminder that our life on earth is short, and that we should live in holiness and devotion

As we celebrate All Saints Day this week, we're reminded that the saints can be our best possible role models for growing in holiness. The saints were sinners too. But they persevered and became a new creation. Following their example can help us do the same.

Saints and spiritual writers offer this sound advice: Prayer is the best weapon we have, and is the oxygen of the soul. Therefore, entrust your cares to the Lord. There is nothing too small or too big to pray to the Lord about.

In this week’s episode of the Walk Humbly Podcast, Bishop Burbidge hosts a live recording of the podcast for the first time ever, at RALLY. With the help of a decibel meter, the crowd plays "this or that" with Bishop Burbidge. He shares thoughts on appropriate Halloween costumes for Catholics, as well as how to respond with love to LGBT friends and classmates.

In today's world, our children are subjected to a litany of outside influences, and we cannot always control how they will respond to these things. But we can control our commitment to pray fervently for our sons and daughters. Our prayers may not be answered immediately, but we're called to never tire of entrusting our children to the Lord.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, and we all remember Neil Armstrong’s famous words, “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” So too in our faith lives, as Jesus calls us to take “one small step” closer to Him every day.

Our nation is seriously ill, and needs a cure. We must address the seemingly constant acts of senseless violence in our communities. We must also analyze the symptoms and heal the disease. The cure is found in Christ Jesus.

In this episode, Bishop Burbidge discusses: This Sunday is World Day for Migrants and Refugees, Questions University of Mary Washington students had for him, Catholic hospital is sued for not violating Church teaching, Grisly discovery in basement of abortionist’s home, and Holy Martyrs of Vietnam Catholic Church celebrates 40th anniversary!
