The Boston Red Sox continued their trend of "what are they doing?!" this week as the abysmal month of December continued.

The Red Sox introduced Masataka Yoshida during a press conference at Fenway Park on Thursday that again was overshadowed by negativity. To make room for Yoshida, the Red Sox DFA'd Jeter Downs -- who was a key piece in the Mookie Betts trade in 2020.

Chaim Bloom also revealed Yoshida likely will lead off, but Yoshida said he is not confident in his abilities to do so.

NESN's Lauren Willand looks into the awkwardness of the presser and questions why the Red Sox want to make him a full-time outfielder when the scouting reports aren't high on his defense.

Later, Lauren looks into a tweet from The Boston Globe's Alex Speier that revealed that Scott Boras implied the Red Sox did not re-sign Xander Bogaerts due to how excited they are about shortstop prospect Marcelo Mayer. With Mayer still years away from MLB action, why not just deal with that when the time comes if he does pan out?
