The Washington Capitals had a need at second line center with Nick Backstrom recovering from a hip resurfacing procedure that was done. The outlook from that procedure is not too good. Many players never returned after having that done, or if they did it was only for a short period of time

On the second day of free agency Capitals GM Brian Maclellan signed Dylan Strome to a one a year deal worth $3.5 million dollars. That fits perfectly into the Capitals plans as Nick Backstrom is due to miss a substantial amount of time.

Dylan has faced some great adversity in his hockey career. He played with elite company in his early days in the OHL playing with Connor McDavid and MItch Marner.

The start of his Career with the Coyotes was a shaky one at best, but really found his home on the Chicago Blackhawks. He did experience some time in and out of the lineup, but all in all was a very productive member of the Blackhawks team. Dylan is coming off a strong year with the Chicago Blackhawks that saw him dish 22 goals and 26 assists in 69 games.
