Watch Skip Plus

This bonus episode is dedicated to our loyal listeners and hardcore fans….without you, Watch Skip Plus wouldn’t have lasted these past 2.5 years and wouldn’t be able to proudly release our THIRD annual special Sundance episode.

While the previous episodes featured him as a guest, WillDaBeast is NOW an official co-host on Watch Skip Plus and so it goes…he invited his Sundance “Choose Your Own Adventure” partner Pat to join Cupcake to discuss the vibe and the new films they managed to watch in a theatre or online at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. The trio talk inside details like the diminished number of films this year, how it measured up to last year, as well as the dearth of major sales of new films. And after a passionate discussion of statistics and the thematic nature of the films collectively, Mike and Pat give you their top Sundance films to look out for in the future when they are released.

Hold on tight…info flies fast and furious about movies as varied as documentaries about confiscated contraband videos inside a jail and one about the controversial Stand Your Ground Florida law, midnight fare involving tentacle porn and a couple working out their relationship stress through…yes….parasitic-alien shenanigans, and gut punch dramas with pet trigger warnings and stalker-assistants, culminating in a Grand Jury Prize film winner hosed by the critics.

Watch Skip Plus Episode 110: COMPANION

Feeling lonely? Let WATCH SKIP PLUS be your COMPANION!!!!!

Third time….on time….WillDABeast and Cupcake have a new episode reviewing a new movie with a (somewhat) new guest:  Luck Key Brian (formerly known as the Flickboxer, previously guested on three WS+ episodes). The trio take on Companion, produced by the guy that brought you “Barbarian”, directed by Drew Hancock, and spoiled by a stupid trailer that revealed the twist of the film. BOOOOOOOOOO!

With a cast of mainly TV but most certainly attractive actors, is this a cautionary tale of AI, an indictment of incel culture, feminist allegory? The Three dive in and let you know…watch out: in depth film analysis in your download bin.

Cupcake defers his plus, but Brian talks up a NJ comic store (NOT that one) and Mike previews something all the rage in bodybuilding that helps you survive long hour days and film festivals.

Watch Skip Plus Episode 109: PRESENCE

UNWRAP YOUR PRESENCE…see what we did there?

Is this top secret/Sundance 2024 premiered 84 minute thriller told from a ghost’s perspective “Soderbergh’s After School Special” (Editor’s Note: Cupcake really really does love Soderbergh despite that flippant remark) or is it a sneakily clever, thought-provoking unique ghost story with a twist. Watch as the two hosts have COMPLETELY different interpretations of the film (aka Cupcake gets SERVED!). Puns, a sidechat into Anora, foot fetishes, and a nod to a seminal 80’s ghost film masterpiece ensue!

Exorcise the demons and GET US IN YOUR EARS!!!!

And stick around for the PLUS: Mike talks up a movie that shows two HUGE stars getting back in the action and Cupcake gives another skincare tutorial.

HOWL AT THE MOON!!!! WATCH SKIP PLUS IS BACK!!!!

WS+ comes roaring back for Season 3! Apologies for the delay and keeping you in suspense about the “big news”: Sadly, Emcee has stepped away from the pod, and so Cupcake has a new host! Tune in as he and the (familiar) new co-host take on Wolf Man, an undercover Dark Universe/Universal Monsters reboot of the famous Lon Chaney, Jr. film “The Wolfman”. Written and directed by Leigh Whanell (a co-creater of the Saw franchise), will “Wolf Man” duplicate the thriller highs of Whannell’s other Universal Monsters reboot “The Invisible Man” or is this yet another trauma-themed, elevated horror film that’s all feels and no teeth?

TAKE A BITE OUT OF THE NEW WS+! And stick around for the PLUS….it’s now AFTER the movie review proper!

Watch Skip Plus Episode 106: GLADIATOR 2

HAPPY HOLIDAYS…ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!!?!?!!!! Turkey-Alex and a thankful Cupcake take on a sequel 24 years in the making - Gladiator 2! The Watch/Skip-er’s are recording back to back episodes so this week and next week’s “wicked” episode are a bit truncated…but we still dive below the line to discuss legendary director Ridley Scott and the screenwriters of this sequel to 2000’s original starring Russell Crow, and above the line with the gorgeous actors - Paul Mescal, Connie Nielsen, Pedro Pascal, Fred Hechinger, Joseph Quinn, and an out of control Denzel Washington (it’s a good thing….he’s mutherfucking KING KONG OF ROME, ok?). Is this a successful follow-up or does this movie not make it out of the Colosseum alive?  #mutantbaboons

Emcee defers his plus, but Cupcake gives TWO…count ‘em TWO….Max streaming options for your holiday!

Watch Skip Plus Episode 105: Conclave

YOUR PRAYERS ARE ANSWERED!!!! After a week off due to sickness, the WS+ boys have been resurrected to bring you a new episode. This week, Emcee and Cupcake take on "Conclave" from the director of Netflix's "All Quiet on the Western Front". The latter garned praise and (BAFTA/Academy/Critical) awards. Will this dramatization of the succession/election process for the world's next Pope - starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rosselini - stun viewers the same? The Boys deep-dive the stage-y, talk-y film's multifaceted themes of the dynamics of ambition and power, acceptance and diversity, and a twist that might be causing un-intended controversy over the film.

But before that, Alex and Cupcake mind-meld their plusses - each discusses ALL the films they watched while taking the week break.

GENUFLECT AND HIT PLAY!!!!

Episode 104: Anora

Emcee and Cupcake open a CANNES of filmic whoop ass and review the always-intriguing, indie filmmaker Sean Baker’s Anora, winner of this year’s Palme D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. What ostensibly starts as a kind of young love “Pretty Woman”, this romantic comedy drama ends up being quite the wild ride with deep empathetic storytelling and a brilliant star-making turn from Mikey Madison. Emcee loves him some indie fare outside the mainstream, and so will you as the Boys dissect the movie’s character dynamics, its complexities of love and relationships, and the struggle for authenticity.

But first up, Cupcake invites you into his shower for some skincare goodies, while Emcee gives you the 411 (or is that the 101) on one of Hip Hop music’s most progressive and constantly evolving music artists.
