Episode 89 of Watch Skip Plus answers whether a 28 year old film necessitated a sequel!
28 years after the original and wildly entertaining Twister was released (Special Effects! TV actors! Written by Michael Crichton! EP’d by Spielberg! Natural Disaster writ large!), Hollywood brain trusts got the idea for the ultimate oxymoron - “A standalone sequel”...with that GLEN POWELL guy! And so it goes: Twisters hits screens in a very “Top Gun: Maverick” style re-quel (listen to hear common denominator between both films) but is it worth a watch or a skip? Warning: the energy is high on this episode…so much so Cupcake completely forgets the ENTIRE format of the damn show!

Emcee pluses sustainable things you slip on body parts..

Prepare for massive WTF’ing for Episode 86 of Watch Skip Plus!
The Poor Things over at Watch Skip Plus review “Kinds of Kindness”, the new film by Yorgos Lanthimos, a Favourite of many from Greece to the Alps to the Academy! Bleat all you want, but the film is a return to form for Lanthimos’ singular, visceral filmmaking. Is this triptych with a cast of regular Lanthimos players (Emma Stone, Willem DaFoe, Margret Qualley) the whole Lobster entree and dessert or is it a painful experience like the killing of a sacred deer?

Emcee promotes a website you can’t sleep on.

HOP ON YOUR HARLEY AND REV UP A BRAND NEW EPISODE!
The Watch/Skip’ers time travel on a Harley back to the 60’s when they review indie darling Jeff Nichols’ “The Bikeriders” based on the eponymous photo-book by Danny Lyon of the notorious Outlaw Motorcycle Club. Featuring a full throttle cast of newcomers and veteran character actors and Nichols’ chrome pedigree, pic is chopped for potential award-season mileage. But is this “Goodfellas” meets “Sons of Anarchy” worthy of its leather-studded colors or is it a rough ride with no air in the tires and water in the gas tank?
Cupcake plus’s one of Nichols’ earlier filmic efforts while Emcee spotlights some friendly artistry. And then Q and Alex talks cardio and pets.

QUIT THRASHING ABOUT IN THE WATER AND LIFE-PRESERVER OUR NEW EPISODE!
The Boys dive into the streaming waters again and take on the French shark thriller Under Paris. Directed by new wave French horror director Xavier Gens - who counts as his new wave compadres Alexandre Aja (“High Tension”), Bustillo and Maury (“Inside”), and Pascal Laugier (“Martyrs”) - Sous La Seine (it’s original French title) chums viewer expectations with the ultimate B movie Jaws-ripoff scenario: a shark in the Seine and the catacombs of Paris. Will streaming audiences take a bite out of this thriller that has plot points touching on evolution and climate change in addition to people getting chewed up Richard Shaw style or is this an uneven paced, cringe acting, lousy CGI a la SyFy cold fish?
For his plus, Emcee talks “State of the Movie Union” now that we are halfway through the film release year….there will be stats/numbers, business talk, and #saveexhibition. Cupcake takes loyal listener Chris “Judd” Hoover’s suggestion and ventures into the theatres to “watch” an M. Night Shyamalan-adjacent film.
“Q and Alex” rocks the boat with wakeup times, the CastleFlexx, the dreaded 10 year question, weird creature-fight hypotheticals, and gym equipment that sucks. (Editor’s Note: This is Beanie. My hooman asks random questions this week. It should STOP. Also feed me.)

FAKE IT ‘TIL YOU MAKE IT….NEW EPISODE IS NIGH!
WE’RE BAAAAAAACCCCCKKKK!!!! After a short break, the Watch/Skip’ers make a killer comeback on a new episode that is special in more ways than one! Emcee and Cupcake take on their first streaming exclusive film - Netflix’s Hit Man, directed by Richard Linklater and current IT dude, Glen Powell. The two are joined by one of THE pod-fathers - Sam U. Rai from the long running and vaunted Gentleman’s Guide to Midnite Cinema. And hang on for the ride: three plusses (Bruceploitation!, nasal orifices, and tires), a discussion of Linklater’s career, talk of personality tests, morals, flexing, and the definition of your new favorite buzzword: “vatican wafer”. Is Hit Man the herald of a new millennial movie star in the mold of Newman, Brando, and Cruise or should Hollywood really stop trying to make Glen Powell happen?
Can’t invite family and NOT have them stay for a bit of “Q & Alex” so Sammy sticks around for the peek into the host’s psyche. There’s pie, podcasts what if’s, cartoons, political correctness, and, uh………cinematic boners.

NEW EPISODE TRUCKING YOUR WAY!!!!
The Watch/Skip’ers hitch a ride on Fury Road and take on the new entry in the popular and well-loved Mad Max series - Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. This time creative brain trust director George Miller has buzzy indie darling Anya Taylor-Joy smearing the oil on her face and donning the bionic-motorized arm in place of Charlize Theron while Chris Hemsworth chews scenery as a twisted outback-Cyrano de Bergerac-apocalyptic madman. With nine years between this one and the stunning Mad Max: Fury Road (widely regarded as a “perfect” action film), will audiences take to this messianic origin story that is quite different from any other film in the franchise or leave it, Miller, and those hungering for a direct sequel to Fury Road on the shoulder and looking for a tow? Warning…bad Tina Turner/Auntie Entity impressions ahead.
But first the PLUSES - Emcee is ready to…..PUMP….YOU UP!!!!! while Cupcake features some Netflix goodies to get in your eyeballs….you know…since everyone just waits to stream movies. #SAVEEXHIBITION. (Editor’s note: This is Beanie… You gonna pay for these peeps to go to the movies? $65 or more versus $20 or less to stream? Don’t make me kick your down again, humans!)
Q & Alex returns with a fury (see what I did there?) when the boys talk icky food, desserts, achy body parts, and a weirdo hypothetical.
