DROP in for a brand new episode!!!!

The Watch/Skip+ boys drop it like it’s hot and review the new Hitchcockian, techno-thriller Drop. Openly gay director Christopher Landon was dropped from the Scream 7 sequel but returned to this dropped project which he was writing. Drop stars the gorgeous and electric leads Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar. Will this taut, tense, and tight movie be embraced by the movie-going audiences or will they drop it in the trash bin? (Editor’s note: Say “drop” one more time!)

DROP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND CHECK OUT OUR NEW EPISODE!

For Pluses, Cupcake talks feet (don’t worry, it not fetish-y, we promise) and Mike reviews a new film that just dropped on Netflix.

CHICKEN JOCKEY!!!!!!!!!

WillDaBeast and Cupcake get trapped in a movie they never made (Editor: No ONE will get this reference…please, stop) and review “A Minecraft Movie” based on the video game from Mojang Studios. In an almost identical, family-friendly pop culture - video game nostalgia whirlwind not unlike last year’s Five Nights at Freddy’s (also based on a beloved video game), Minecraft arrives in theatres with its built in fanbase and much to the delight of kids everywhere. But is it’s CGI-laden, retro-tech bombastic and screaming stylings bolstered by two WILD AND CRAZEEEEE performances by Jack Black and Jason Momoa a crowd pleasing tentpole pre-spring film fling or something best admired by those 15 and under?

GRAB SOME CHICKEN CHICKEN LAVA AND WATCH/SKIP ON US!

For Pluses, Mike takes in yet another film featuring Ray “Big Head” Nicholson, and Jose reviews two new films - one streaming and one theatrical - to mixed effect.

UNICORNS BE BUGGIN’!!!!!

WillDaBeast and Cupcake roll out the ancient tapestries for A24’s unique genre mashup film “Death of A Unicorn. This satire horror film - Think “My Little Pony” only “My Deathkill Pony” - is quite unique in its extremes, especially for a first time filmmaker. Loaded with a great cast - Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Will Poulter, Richard E. Grant - is this “unicorn” of a movie (see what I did there?) watch-worthy with its “out of the box” surprising gore and shocks and absurdist comedy styling or will it polarize audiences and even our hosts? (you’ll never believe who ends up NOT liking the movie, one seemingly right up the alleys of both hosts).   #FatherHole

GET HORN-Y AND TURN US ON!!!!!

Mirror, Mirror…who is the most controversial of all? Disney’s remake of SNOW WHITE!!!!

WillDaBeast and Cupcake review and discuss the controversy-laden big budget (potential bomb?) live action remake/reboot/re-musical of Disney’s seminal, historic miracle “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves”. Title got short but the production all the way up to the release was LONG on controversy (Little person casting? Snow Brown? Pro-Palestine lead vs Pro-Israel co-lead? Sexually fluid sexy actor as love interest?). Just wow!

But how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln? The Watch Skip’ers discuss the scandalous production, Gal Gadot’s “acting”, and whether this remake is the next “Wicked” or belongs on a trash pile fire. Cupcake proves even film critics can have shitty memory and a lot of doppelganger comparisons ensue!

KISS US AND GET US IN YOUR EARS!!!

Cupcake in his plus talks stinky male balls while Mike reviews a Gentleman’s Guide to Midnite Cinema + Cupcake approved streaming pic pick. (Editor’s Note: Glitch in the Matrix or alliteration?)

ROBOTS, CHRIS PRATT, AND BILLIONAIRES…..OH MY!!!!!

The Russo Brothers got thrown another $300 million to carte blanche whip up….SOMETHING, and the Watch Skip’ers are reviewing it this week! Witness: Netflix’s The Electric State, starring Millie Bobby Brown (watch what you say about her appearance, folks!), Chris Pratt (minus the velociraptors and rocking one shitty wig), Stanley Tucci, and a host of brilliant voice talent performers. Is this tale of a young woman trying to find the body of her comatose brother whose spirit now inhabits a cute little robot who can only speak in tv quotes after a billionaire used his brain to stop a robot-human war and subjugate all the robots behind a big BORDER….and yes, you read that plot right….is this another Russo Brothers epic flick or is it uh….another Russo Brothers epic flick? Find out what WillDaBeast and Cupcake mean as they dissect this abomination of streaming (meanwhile, witness Cupcake brain farting his bad memory all over the place).

GET US IN YOUR EARS!!!!

For pluses, both Mike and Jose talk up movie new releases…both of which likely would have made a better subject for review than the new Russo Brothers flick.

FROM MONKEY TO……MICKEY! NEW EPISODE PRINTED!

Innovative visualist, Oscar winning Korean director Bong Joon Ho roars back with the new sci-fi satire Mickey 17, starring the glittery vampire OR Batman (depending on who you talk to) Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie (another WS+ notch for her), Steven Yuen, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette. Fresh off the out of the box Oscar sweep for the film Parasite, Bong’s resume swings back to some of the sci fi narrative and themes tread in his other films (The Host, Snowpiercer, Okja, anyone?). BUT does this allegorical genre mashup stick the landing or does Bong’s crock pot overflow with too many ingredients? Listen as the Boys hash this out in a way that pays homage to the film’s re-print theme (and for whatever reasons, Cupcake ends up shilling and defending not one, but TWO Reese Witherspoon films in the process).

GET US IN YOUR EARS!!!!

For pluses, Jose talks up a pioneering re-invention of a hygiene drug store staple while Mike reviews a film (Editor’s note: Oh not another documentary?) that has more in common with Mickey 17 than just one of its actors.

Episode 113: THE MONKEY

WATCH OUT…WS+ IS BACK! DON’T LOOK NOW THERE’S A MONKEY ON YOUR BACK! (Editor’s note: luv me some George Michael)

After the Oscars prediction episode and a slow weekend at the box office (Woody Harrelson deep water horizon? Dead best friends? Daisy Ridley as an assassin?),  the Boyz release the previously recorded ep where they review the next film from promising director Oz Perkins - The Monkey.

Based on a Stephen King short story, bursting with grand guignol gore and dipped in acidic black comedy, The Monkey rips into film and pop culture with a force…think Adult Swim meets Peter Jackson. Is this a brilliant horror comedy that magnifies not only genre tropes but Stephen King tropes as well? Or is it a limp, wet biscuit like this year’s other horror comedy “Heart Eyes”?

TURN THE KEY AND FIND OUT!

For pluses, Mike talks yet ANOTHER Netflix documentary series that they stretched out into three episodes when it could have been one tight feature, and Jose gives you a better way to shave and fight plastic!

CO-HOSTS CHANGE….BUT THE OSCARS PREDICTIONS EPISODE ENDURES!!!!

Who doesn’t love an awards show? Judging by the diminishing viewership of televised award shows, a f&*k-ton of viewers, but WATCH SKIP PLUS loves predicting the Oscars, even if it means looking like a fool as Cupcake did last year thinking Oppenheimer wouldn’t sweep.

And so it goes: For your pleasure, our no-frills (no images, barely any captions) conversational predictions for the 2025 Oscars (which like your taxes…celebrates all the money, blood, sweat, and tears from 2024). WillDaBeast and Cupcake have the pleasure of first time guest Fakest of Shemps (Jeremy) joining them to bang out “who will win” but more importantly “who they want to win”.  It’s a pretty rousing and sneakily comical time to be had!

And the Winner for Best Fan of Watch Skip Plus is…….YOU!!!!

Episode 112: Captain America: Brave New World

CAP’S BACK AND HE’S OPENING UP A CAN OF RED HULK!!!!

We here at Watch Skip Plus love comic book superhero movies….when they are done right. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently experiencing a bit of a box office limbo with diminishing returns. After scaling back and the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine, the MCU comes back swinging with “Captain America: Brave New World”.

With Anthony Mackie returning as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, alongside a Red Hulk Harrison Ford, is this a BRAVE NEW DIRECTION for the MCU and a return to box office dominance or is it the SAME OLD FORMULA veering the MCU further off course with no hope of return from its backlash/oversaturation?

SWOOP INTO OUR NEW EPISODE AND FIND OUT!

For pluses, Mike talks a “dream”-y animated movie while Jose tests out yet ANOTHER paid of open ear buds (he’s can’t resist collecting and trying).

HAPPY VALENTIMES!!!!!

Or as Cupcake calls…Happy Madame Web (MW was released one year ago on Valentine’s Day 2024). WillDaBeast and Cupcake are reviewing Heart Eyes…a rom-com horror comedy written by Christopher Landon (“Freaky”, “Happy Death Day”) and starring Mason Gooding, Olivia Holt, Devon Sawa and Jordana Brewster. Directed by sexy Josh Ruben, Heart Eyes was never telegraphed as an actual rom-com comedy from the trailers but does it herald a new vision of genre-parody mashup’s or is this just a bloody limp noodle of a film centered around a Hallmark holiday?

SHOW YOUR LOVE AND CHECK OUT THE EPISODE!

Then stick around for the Pluses:  Mike talks a reality docu-drama that is capital “P” problematic (not the least of which is that it’s a good 90 minute doc stretched over several streaming episodes) and Cupcake reviews streaming films for your viewing pleasure - a 2024 Sundance hit and romance between two sexy Brits (one of whom has sexy (Spider) feet).
