COME ASHORE FOR THE NEW WATCH SKIP PLUS!

Cupcake all but ordered WillDaBeast to see the new Ron Howard film solely because advanced word had Jude Law doing a “one for the history books” full frontal nude scene. And so it is: this week the Boyz review Ron Howard’s historically based, “Survivor”-esque 1930’s period drama “Eden” starring Law, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Bruehl (BARON ZEMO!), current controversial it-girl Sydney Sweeney, and Ana De Armas. Aside from the obvious visual DELIGHTS (warning: lots of breasts, penis, butt, and pregnancy talk/jokes), is this a return to prestige engrossing filmmaking from Howard or is “Eden” setting itself up to run afoul of potential multiple Razzie nominations (yes, at least one host thinks this is absolute dreck)?

FIND PARADISE WITH OUR NEW EPISODE!

Stick around for the PLUS:  Mike reviews “Night of the Zoopocalypse”, an animated film based on a short story by….wait for it…..CLIVE BARKER (think “Zootopia” meets Alien meets “Paranorman”); Jose takes on the new horror comedy “Clown in a Cornfield” from the director of “Tucker & Dale vs. Evil”.

Cupcake’s favorite action filmmakers 87North (David Leitch and Kelly McCormack’s production company) return with “Nobody 2” starring Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielson, Sharon Stone, RZA, John Ortiz, Christopher Lloyd, and Daniel Bernhardt. 87North might be having the same kind of year as BlumHouse with lackluster audience reception to previous releases Love Hurts and Ballerina. Will this action comedy sequel directed by Indo-Asian action filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto in his US debut break the bad streak? And what will WillDaBeast and Cupcake think about this second go around with Hutch and his family vacation ruined by a run-in with a female girl-boss gangster? You’ll be surprised who gives this one a “skip” (!)

Meanwhile: Mike pluses his live concert experience with LCD Soundsystem (guess what? DAFT PUNK IS PLAYING AT MY HOUSE!!!) while Jose sings the praises of a previous underrated, unsung, gonzo Netflix original - 87North production: “Kate” starring Mary Elisabeth Winstead and Woody Harrelson (thinks “D.O.A.” meets “Atomic Blonde”).

THE YEAR’S BIGGEST “WTF” MOVIE IS HERE! GET READY FOR WEAPONS!

*Links in bio - please check out our video episodes on Spotify and YouTube

In a year that has been a veritable gift for horror fans, the director of “Barbarian” unleashes his eagerly anticipated follow-up, “Weapons” starring Josh Brolin (top billing! We explain…), Julia Garner, (Jose’s future husband) Alden Ehrenreich, and Benedict Wong. For a film shrouded in secrecy and teased by a provocative and intriguing teaser trailer, Weapons is poised to draw the audience into its web of mystery. WS+ hosts, WillDaBeast and Cupcake, were NOT ready for the cinematic assault of the double-back, time-around narrative, the true reveal of the genre, the central mystery, and the craziest WTF ending (Director Zach Cregger must have watched “28 Years Later” and then said….hold my f&*king beer). Not to sound like Alfred Hitchcock, but please don’t spoil the film for your friends or yourself and try to watch this one blind. This is a must listen to episode!

For Plus’s, Mike reviews the film Sketch and discusses its controversial distributor Angel Studios. Jose plus’s Shokz’s 2025 upgraded and OpenComm 2 bone conduction boom mike headset (SPOILER: He recorded his side of the ENTIRE podcast using ONLY the OpenComm 2 and not his regular Yeti mic; you will be SHOKZ’d by the clarity).

COME TOGETHER!!!! … OVER WATCH SKIP PLUS!!!!!

*Links in bio - please check out our video episodes on Spotify and YouTube

WS+ takes a break from blockbusters…or rather superheroes…and takes on another type of “busting” with the indie body horror “Together”. Savvy listeners will remember Mike reviewing this for the Annual Sundance Episode where the film, its director Michael Shanks and leads Dave Franco and Alison Brie caused a bit of much-talked-about sensation (we just won’t talk about the plagiarism lawsuit…OK, we mentioned it!). In a year full of visceral horror that mines themes of isolation versus connection and trauma, is this Cronenbergian metaphor for co-dependency viz a viz body melting, penile trauma, and uh, mildew a certified hit or gooey nonsense? Check out the full episode to see which one of us actually changes their rating by the end of the discussion.

Jose’s plus is the incredible Evercool Cooling comforter by Rest which purports to put an end to your hot sleepless nights while Mike reviews the film originally slated for this week’s episode….The Naked Gun requel with Liam Neeson and Jose’s hero: Pamela Anderson.

Episode 134: The Fantastic Four: First Steps

FFinally!!! As the BO for the new Marvel film craters...our new episode is up (after tech snafus!)

*Links in bio - please check out our video episodes on Spotify and YouTube

The Boyz bring back Sam U. Rai from the Gentleman’s Guide to Midnite Cinema to discuss yet another SUPERHERO film: the eagerly awaited The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The MCU is still floundering of late, far from its billion dollar a movie hey day. The ingredients are all there: Visionary director (Matt Shakman who created WandaVision), incredible cast (Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Barach, and Joseph Quinn), a retro-futuristic look, key Marvel characters (Galactus, Silver Surfer, Mole Man). Will this restore the MCU to greatness and finally herald a true vision of Marvel’s first family or is it more Kevin Feige-trickery and just a placeholder for the next (Doomsday) movie? Strap in for an image-less, plus-less, two hourlong, no-holds-barred discussion that critiques the film and the state of the MCU.

A LEGACY SEQUEL? 27 YEARS LATER? I KNOW WHAT…THE……???

*Links in bio - please check out our video episodes on Spotify and YouTube

Horror franchises come and go; some endure and some….wake up and get 'requel'd nearly 27 years later (and no…it’s not the prequel to 28 Years Later). Such is “I Know What You Did Last Summer” (2025)....taking the Scream (2022) route and using the original’s title with no number. WillDaBeast and Cupcake welcome a die hard horror fan Tyler, co-host of Raiders of the Podcast, to critique the new offering directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and starring Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, and OG IKWYDLS stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze, Jr.

Is this a worthy, almost-pioneering legacy horror sequel to scare a new audience and franchise fans (yes….there was a THIRD IKWYDLS sequel which Tyler mentions here) or does it belong at the bottom of the ocean in Davy Jones’ locker?

GET HOOKED AND CHECK OUT OUR LATEST EPISODE!

(Now with video on Spotify and YouTube!)

For pluses, Tyler talks Showtime's Ray Donovan and series finale movie. Mike heralds the latest album from Clipse while Cupcake ponders whether Ari Aster's Eddington is brilliant or the worst movie ever?

EPIC SUPERSIZED SUPERMAN ANALYSIS!

*Links in bio - please check out our video episodes on Spotify and YouTube

The year’s most eagerly anticipated film soars into theatres and Watch Skip Plus gives you a KRYPTON-sized critical analysis of the James Gunn-directed superhero epic. Eschewing pluses this week, WilDaBeast and Cupcake are joined by Pod-Father Sam U. Rai from the Gentleman’s Guide to Midnite Cinema podcast and “Fakest of Shemps” Jeremy (who guested on our recent Oscars episode and creamed us with his spot-on predictions). Get ready for a  stripped-down (image-free) roundtable discussion about the pop culture impact of Superman, James Gunn as a filmmaker, the cast, the CGI, and whether this first film…the charter voyage for the new DC Studios (RIP Snyder-verse) and the first chapter of the proposed “Gods and Monsters” DC media-verse…is worthy of the hype/relaunch/reboot of a storied DC character or if it’s yet another failed attempt for DC and a misstep for Gunn (who has dabbled now in BOTH DC and Marvel franchises).

LOOK UP IN THE SKY….IT’S A BIRD! IT’S A PLANE! IT’S A NEW WATCH SKIP PLUS EPISODE!!!

Dinosaurs, Mutants, and ScarJo….OH MY!

The 7th film in the Jurassic Park franchise has been released but is it a worthy reboot/spinoff/expansion of the JP universe or a T-Rex sized cash grab? WillDaBeast and Cupcake spare no expense reviewing Jurassic World: Rebirth, directed by visual wunderkind Gareth Edwards and with a wildly photogenic cast (Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and his SEXY LEGS!). Which host will love this and which one hopes this series just goes extinct?

HOLD ONTO YOUR V*&INAS! M3GAN IS BACK….BUT IS IT AN UPGRADE?

Blumhouse/Atomic Monster hit M3GAN is back with a sequel that swings so far from its horror origins the WS+ boys couldn’t review it without bringing on their YouTube brother in arms John Horgan from the “...And Now For Something a Little Bit Different” channel. Director Gerald Johnstone was clearly given free range to give us a sequel that ostensibly wants to be “Terminator 2 meets Demolition Man” but is THAT what fans of the original asked for? Is this 2.0 upgrade worth downloading? Or is all the AI/Mission Impossible/Singing and Dancing Cyborg schtick already obsolete? (Hint: one of us really HATED the genre switch with a passion)

BE A DOLL…..DOWNLOAD OUR NEW EPISODE!

For pluses: Mike continues the summer concert vibe with Modest Mouse on tour at the Ogden Twilight concert series while John pluses another Jon…..BON JOVI and his restaurants that address homelessness with a unique community “pay what you want” for cuisine model exclusive of the Johns’ home state - New Jersey.
