Are you ready for episode 18, friends?

First, we’re going to travel all the way to Gloucestershire to visit the historic Ram Inn. We’re also going to try our best to pronounce Gloucestershire properly and we are going to fail. Dreia is going to tell you all about the history and the ghosts of this crazy inn – including the woman in ancient Grecian robes that likes to scratch people while they sleep.

Following the fun of all the ghosts, Maggie is going to tell you all about dissociative fugue disorder and how it affects/affected Hannah Upp. Hannah suffers/suffered from the disorder and has disappeared while under its effects three separate times. After her third disappearance, she was never found again.

So, Walken, Wagner, and Wood walk into a bar… it doesn’t end well and neither does this episode.

First up, Maggie’s going to tell you all about the mysterious drowning of Hollywood star Natalie Wood. A fortune teller once predicted that Wood would rise to fame but also that she needed to stay away from dark water. Ultimately, she drowned, and her husband Robert Wagner probably didn’t murder her. If you believe him.

Next, Dreia is going to tell us all about the heinous piece of human garbage known as Harvey Miguel Robinson. Robinson felt that it was okay to break into peoples’ homes to rape and murder them. The town of Allenstown, PA felt otherwise. Robinson is now sitting on death row and his biggest claim to fame, other than excelling at being an asshole, is being one of the youngest serial killers in history.

Dreia is going to start us off with the Skoptsy Cult that was started in the 1700s in Russia by a man that had delusions of being Jesus. He believed that human genitalia were essentially the root of all evil and needed to be removed – can you see where we’re going with this?

If the Skoptsy Cult isn’t enough to ruin your day, well we’ve got another bummer coming your way. Maggie’s cult this week is The Children of God (also known as The Family International). Instead of avoiding sex, this cult was all about having sex – and they did not discriminate based on age, if you know what we mean.

Things get pretty rough this episode, and it’s not just our mispronunciation of names and places. Here’s the part where we add in a trigger warning for talk of some pretty explicit sexual content.

Coming at you – we’ve got two new (to us) stories and we’re pumped to share them. Up first, Maggie wants to make it very clear that she used to live in Ukraine (has she mentioned that before?) and she heard this folk tale while there that she just has to share. Baba Yaga is a witch commonly found in Slavic folklore who lives in a house that rests on some giant chicken legs and gives everyone nightmares.

Andreia is back to her old standby – ghost stories! She’s going to tell you the story of the SS Ourang Medan (just to clarify, NOT the SS Orangutan) and how EVERYONE died. We’re not entirely sure the date that this happened, and we’re still not entirely sure how this happened, but it did. It’s crazy bananas and we are here for it.

We’re back again this week with three of your favorite things – a history lesson, a ghost story, and a ridiculous true crime story. Dreia has this overwhelming need to ruin Maggie’s life with history lessons, so she starts us off today in 11th Century France with the story of the haunted Chateau de Chateaubriant and how it is haunted by some pretty badass ladies. It may not be the most haunted place in France, but it does have a fun backstory.

After learning about some great lady ghosts, Maggie is up with her story of the San Francisco Witch Killers. This magical love story has plenty of laughs, drugs, and murder. But seriously, this couple is the bad kind of bonkersauce and we should all be glad that they are in prison for forever.

What happens when you cross our podcast hosts with two cold cases – one modern day and one that happened over 70 years ago? You get this episode!

We’ll start with the case of Brandon Lawson, who went missing in 2013. This case fascinates Maggie because how can a person vanish without a trace in the golden age of technology? Elizabeth Short was last seen alive in January of 1947 and her body was found brutally murdered shortly after that. Today, Dreia will talk about Short’s life and untimely death and how she was coined ‘The Black Dahlia.’ This cold case is over 70 years old, but still draws a lot of speculation as to whodunit. We’ll talk about some of the suspects and who we think murdered Short, as well.

It’s everyone’s favorite week – CULT WEEK!

This week, we’re going to discuss The Brethren and Synanon. Dreia is up first with a history lesson that leads into the beginnings of the cult called The Brethren. Even though it sounds like a bunch of vampires, it’s way less cool than vampires. The Brethren can trace its lineage all the way back to 1708 and it still exists today.

Next Maggie is going to tell us all about Synanon – the cult that started as an organization to help people recover from addiction! Sounds good, right? Well, it was great up until the cult leader decided that everyone needed to shave their heads, stop having children, and start beating up people who oppose them.
