Welcome To Conversations From The Heart. I am your host, Dr. Yvette Erasmus and I’m here because I long for a kinder, more honest world where most of us feel nourished, seen, and able to meet our human needs in relationships that matter.
I’m a clinical psychologist whose work is rooted in the belief that we can heal disconnection and cultivate compassion. Growing up in South Africa with a father working for the apartheid regime and a mother fighting for human rights taught me how fractured our world can be and how important it is to bridge divides. Hosting nonviolent communication practice groups while studying psychology and peacemaking sparked the conversations that eventually became this podcast.
My approach draws from NVC consciousness as well as archetypes, shadow work, somatic practices, developmental psychology, and the writings of many teachers including Diane Musho Hamilton, Marshall Rosenberg, bell hooks and Pema Chodron.
In this space we practice heart-based courage: staying present when it’s hard, owning our feelings without blaming, and exploring new scripts for old patterns.
My hope is that these conversations inspire and support you in living with more clarity, compassion and connection. Let’s explore what becomes possible when we stop bracing against life and begin opening to it. Let’s walk together toward a more peaceful, humane world and settle in for meaningful conversations from the heart.
