This webcast will discuss What The Physician Needs To Know About Human Trafficking. In the first part of this presentation, we will learn a little bit more about what human trafficking looks like in the United States. We will also start to explore what it may present like in the medical setting, and how to approach these patients as a health care provider. Learners should also expect to gain knowledge about the scale of the human trafficking crisis in Ohio and the rest of the United States. They will then obtain information on “red flags” and tips on identifying those individuals potentially living the life of human trafficking in the healthcare system, along with a discussion of more common presenting complaints and characteristics. Lastly, they will learn about legislative efforts and non-governmental sources of aid and support for these survivors, in order to increase their chances of freedom and survival following their time in the life. Overall, this webcast is a must for any physician or other healthcare provider who would like to provide optimal care to one of our nation’s most vulnerable patient populations.
