   Number 1: What Keffe D Told Detectives Investigating Biggie's Murder

   When LAPD detectives sat down with Duane "Keffe D" Davis in December 2008, they were investigating the murder of Notorious B.I.G. They had built a drug case to pressure Davis into cooperating. He was a person of interest in Biggie's killing because he drove an Impala matching the shooter's car and because he'd been at the party Biggie left minutes before being gunned down. Davis denied any role in Biggie's death. Then, according to the detective who testified at his trial, he said four words that changed everything: "We did the other one." The other one was Tupac.    Twenty-seven years after Tupac Shakur was shot on the Las Vegas Strip, a jury finally answered who pulled the case together — and it took them roughly three hours to convict Duane “Keffe D” Davis of first-degree murder. The case wasn't built on forensics. No weapon was ever recovered. No Cadillac was found. There were no phone records, no surveillance. Prosecutors built their entire case on Davis's own mouth: a 2008 federal proffer, a 2009 police interview, a 2017 documentary, and a 2019 memoir he promoted as the unfiltered truth. His defense spent nearly two hours in closing arguments trying to convince the jury that every one of those statements — made to police, to a film crew, to his own publisher, across eighteen years — was fabricated. The jury didn't buy it. Davis now faces life in prison at his October sentencing, has already told the court he plans to appeal, and asked for his phone and laptop back on his way out. But Davis's words didn't just convict him. Since 2008, he's used those same platforms to name Sean “Diddy” Combs in Shakur's murder, alleging a million-dollar payoff for the hit, routed through a Harlem contact named Eric “Zip” Martin. Combs has denied any involvement, and Las Vegas police have stated he's never been a suspect. Martin died in 2012. Orlando Anderson was killed in 1998.    Number 5: Duane Davis Claims Tupac Wasn't Even The Target

   Two days in a Las Vegas courtroom, and Duane "Keffe D" Davis keeps handing the jury reasons not to believe him. This recap combines Monday's and Tuesday's testimony — Day 5 and Day 6 — in the trial over Tupac Shakur's 1996 murder. Monday's tape was a 2009 police interview: Davis walking detectives through the hunt that started at Club 662, a .40 Glock pulled from a hidden compartment, his nephew Orlando Anderson firing the gun, and his own claim that the bullets were meant for Suge Knight, not for Tupac. Jurors that day also heard from the photographer who captured the last picture ever taken of Tupac alive, and from a BET director who testified Davis was paid to sit for documentary interviews — interviews where he called himself the last man standing who could tell the real story, partly built on a sealed police recording that made its way to production through consultants tied to the original investigation. Tuesday's tape was a 2017 recording where Davis says Sean "Puffy" Combs wanted Suge Knight "taken care of," and where he describes calling Combs after the shooting and never hearing back. The defense fought to keep the recording out. The judge let it in. And when Davis was finally asked, directly, if he had anything to say to Tupac's family, what he gave them wasn't an apology. Combs has denied any involvement in Tupac's death and has never been charged. Davis remains the only person ever charged in the 1996 killing.
