As I mentioned in my solo, during 2024, I played with this idea and had big breaks in between drinks. I really took notice of how I felt after every time I re-introduced alcohol into my life, and I found that the cons outweighed the pros every time.
I want to say first and foremost that I would never ever judge anyone for drinking, this is just my own experience that I wanted to share for anyone who is sober curious or just wants to reduce their alcohol consumption.
Since New York in October I haven’t had a drink, and I have never felt better. Over the silly season their were so many moments I could of drank, but honestly I have had so much fun going out, dancing and connecting without the alcohol. Being ok with being sober definitely took some time. I had an real moment at Bernie’s wedding when I wasn’t drinking, but still had the best time with everyone who was. I felt so happy by the music, the energy and the love in the room and I really thought ok right, this is the moment I stop drinking because I truely don’t need it.
Another factor adding to this choice was acne flare up a few months ago. I had to reduce my sugar consumption and make other big life changes. Reducing stress and getting off the booze has significantly cleared my skin. This was a direct message from my body to stick to the habits that had me feeling my best.
I also feel like I have just grown out of the party phase in my life. I am 30 this year and I can really feel this shift in me that I am craving quality time with fewer people, rather than just small chat with big groups. I am so much more drawn to a slower pace of life.
On today’s episode I am going to talk about 5 learnings I’ve had since taking away alcohol into my life. I have really seen a big sober movement and it is super exciting to see.
