In this episode of Selfdom, I’m joined by Anthony, CEO of Thread Together, an Australian charity tackling clothing waste and insecurity.
Around 30% of new clothing ends up in landfill, while many people in our communities are in need of basic essentials. Thread Together is closing that gap by rescuing brand new, unsold clothing from retailers and redistributing it free of charge to people experiencing hardship.
After recently volunteering with the team, I was deeply moved by the scale of the issue and the dignity this work restores.
We discuss the hidden reality of fashion waste, what clothing means in times of crisis, how brands are responding, and what a more sustainable industry could look like.
If you care about conscious consumption and meaningful impact, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss. We are also hosting a community event to give back - link here to sign up!
