Episode #15 takes us on a financial rollercoaster from near rags to riches, all thanks to a notebook. Yep, you read that right. Doug Bennett is our first international guest on the show, hailing from across the pond in the United Kingdom!
Doug was nearing bankruptcy ten years ago and is now a part of the millionaire club because he started writing goals down in a notebook as if he had already completed them. Rather than writing out a goal such as "run the London marathon", Doug would write out "I have completed the London marathon." He did run it by the way!
By applying this practice, putting in hard work, and remaining intentional, he manifested the successful 7 figure sale of his company in 2020.
Doug is dedicated to helping people take control of their finances by setting personal and professional goals and actually making them come true, no matter where they are in their present financial situation. He covers a lot of this information in his book and podcast, Goals Do Come True!
Learn more about Doug's amazing story and best practices related to goal setting!

Episode #14 shows us how to win as a solopreneur. Nia Lewis knew her destiny early on in life as she began exhibiting entrepreneurial traits as a child which then carried on into college where she started her first salon business in her dorm room. It was during her college years when she solidified her entrepreneurial path and decided not to pursue the corporate world after graduation, a decision that many questioned, but she knew she had it in her to succeed. 5 years later, she's thriving as a solopreneur!
Nia has launched many businesses and has learned how to hustle to grow her businesses versus hustle only to maintain her businesses. She captures all of the lessons that she has learned along the way and regularly shares them through her incredible podcast, The Solopreneur Hustle.
The Solopreneur Hustle podcast was created to bring transparency to what it's really like to build a business from the ground up. Be sure to check it out!
My favorite take away from the discussion with Nia was how to overcome imposter syndrome. Many people that are starting a business feel as if they may not know enough or do enough, therefore they're not credible to run a business. That's simply not true! If you want to create something and believe in it, go for it!
Next take away, "it's not a brag if it's the truth." Don't be afraid to talk about your successes, they can inspire someone else to take action and make this world a better place.
Nia's success is a result of her dedication to personal development, mentors in her life, and confidence that she has developed through many ups and downs as a solopreneur. She's a great person to learn from!

Episode #13 takes us on an upward journey from being on life support to becoming an author, inspirational speaker, and academic triumph coach. Melqaam Shaw found himself on life support at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, SC on August 21st, 2011, a date that served as a wake-up call for him and altered the course of his life for the better.
He thought he was going to be meeting a woman for a few drinks that night and ended up being attacked by multiple people; fortunately this incident served as a blessing in disguise. Prior to this incident, he was living a misguided life and following the path that he believed he was destined for; becoming the biggest and hardest dealer in town.
While he was on life support, he saw the light and has made the best of his second chance at life. He moved out of South Carolina and found himself at Howard University in Washington, D.C., the crème de le crème of HBCUs. Surrounding himself with an abundance of successful people that possessed growth mindsets served as a catalyst for his transformation.
Three things that you'll quickly notice in Melqaam: Passion, Confidence, Grit. He attributes building confidence after his incident to investing in his personal development. Personal development is his religion as he says, following a routine everyday that consists of reading and writing down a plan.
"If you hang up on greatness, it may never call you again." - Melqaam Shaw
Today, you'll find him speaking at schools all over the country and sharing life and academic success principles from his book, Life Support. Check him out!

Episode #11 brings us something completely new - a solocast! We've often heard that the best investment you can make is in yourself, and I believe that is absolutely true. The best investment that I made was 10 years ago when I purchased a three ring binder, paper, and pen to do something that I had never done before: write down my goals. This is my best investment because this simple practice of writing goals down is what laid the foundation for what I have earned today and will continue to earn in the future. Simply put, I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for this fundamental practice that I employed and I only wish that I knew about its power when I was younger.
It was a blast to begin sharing my playbook and talking about what goal setting has done for me and what it may do for your life. Goal setting has given me three things that I would not trade for anything else:
I look forward to the opportunity to continue sharing more of my playbook, working with amazing people, and inspiring many along the way to deploy simple practices in their lives that generate astonishing results.

Episode #9 leaves you walking with away with inspiration and tools to establish a legacy for yourself and your community. Kyle King is nothing short of an inspiration as a 28 year old best selling author, Founder and CEO of the Shine Institute in Charlotte, NC, and author coach having worked with 330 authors nationwide and counting. The authors that he has worked with have collectively generated over $2M in revenue thanks to Kyle and his system. What is he most proud of, though? Being a man of God, a Father, and someone who is constantly giving back in the community and helping authors craft and publish their stories.
Kyle shares his pathway to success which stems back to his childhood being raised in a family where excellence was the only acceptable standard, something this remains with him to this day. Kyle is constantly learning, growing, and surrounding himself with the best people possible. An avid basketball fan, he compares his circle of mentors to a basketball roster and challenges us to do the same. For instance, if you want to get to the next level, do you need to add a Steph Curry to your roster? Look at your team that you have today and assess who is needed to take you to the next level. Kyle discusses how he approaches this process and attributes a large portion of his success to mentors in his life.
When evaluating life and mapping out your plan, it's important to ask yourself WHO you want to be versus WHAT you want to be. Ask yourself this key question and then write it down. Per Kyle's Book, The Mission Plan: The Discovery, "dreams are only dreams until you write them down."
Kyle is on a mission to continue developing himself, giving back to underserved youth in our education system, and inspiring more people to write their stories and publish books. Learn more about what he's up to next! If you are interested in writing your own book in the future, he sponsors one aspiring author per month to go through his program for free - you may be the one!
