1. A showdown over presidential power is happening right now at the U.S. Supreme Court. President Trump's mass firings of federal workers is facing a new test. The justices are hearing arguments right now, on whether the White House has the authority to fire the leaders of independent federal agencies without cause. So far today, liberals have warned that backing President Trump could “destroy the structure of government.” Meanwhile, conservatives have tried to squash fears. A ruling in President Trump's favor would overturn 90-years of precedent.

2. The Packers take over first place in the NFC North after a thrilling Sunday evening win over the Bears at Lambeau. A game-preserving interception by Keisen Nixon on 4th and 1 from the 14 sealed a thrilling 28-21 Packers win. Nixon was benched towards the end of the first half after gifting the Bears 30 yards on two foolish penalties. So, what does the win mean? It means the Packers are alone in first place in the NFC North Division with four games to play. It also means Green Bay currently occupies the number 2 seed position in the NFC playoff picture. How damaging was the loss to the Bears? They go from top overall seed in the NFC, and North division leaders, all the way down to the 7th and final playoff position in the NFC, one game ahead of the lurking Detroit Lions.

3. A Wisconsin woman caught on video shouting racist slurs at customers at a Cinnabon bakery in Ashwaubenon, is now out of job. The company says it watched the “disturbing video” and does not condone the woman’s behavior. A spokesperson for Cinnabon says the franchise owner immediately fired her. The incident took place at the bakery inside Bay Park Square Mall. The video doesn’t show how the confrontation started, but the woman who posted it says it began after she asked for more caramel on her cinnamon roll. Sparking even more debate, there's now an online fundraiser set up to benefit the woman who was fired. It's already raised more than 103-thousand dollars.

Netflix sees this acquisition to cement long-term control over content, reducing dependence on licensing from third-party studios. The move potentially transforms Netflix from a “streaming-first original studio” into a full-fledged Hollywood production & distribution powerhouse, capable of theatrical releases, streaming, and large-scale content production all under one roof. The transaction could be completed within 12 to 18 months, according to initial projections.

2. The Supreme Court has agreed to take up the constitutionality of President Donald Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship. Trump's order says children born to parents who are in the United States illegally or temporarily aren't American citizens. Critics have sharply disagreed. The Supreme Court's rulings have been favorable to the Trump administration so far, but this would be the first decision on the merits of the case.

1. Congratulations to Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy in Milwaukee. Howard Fuller is a tuition-free, non-profit K4-12 charter school in Milwaukee and the winner of a $100,000 prize as a semifinalist in the 2025 YASS Prize competition. Howard Fuller is one of only 23 schools across the country and the only school in Wisconsin to be recognized as a contender for this year’s award, which recognizes groundbreaking innovation in education. Funding will support key initiatives, including building a new elementary school playground and launching AI literacy and differentiated instruction programs to strengthen individualized learning and improve literacy across all grade levels.

2. A small step towards re-establishing a passenger rail line in southeast Wisconsin. The Milwaukee-Area-Racine-Kenosha, or MARK Rail Line, held its first commission meeting today. The proposed rail service would connect the lakeshore communities, which supporters say would spur economic growth. While in the early stages, the commission will help consider different approaches to the rail service, and how it would be designed. At this point, there's no commitment to the project, and no funding is required from the cities. The MARK Commission will hold its next meeting in early 2026.

3. The nation's capital hosts the draw for the 2026 World Cup today, determining the groups, matchups and venues for next summer's tournament in North America. The United States men's national team has already been placed in Group D as a host and will learn its three opponents in the draw, a high-profile affair taking place at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. President Donald Trump is in attendance and was handed the inaugural “FIFA Peace Prize”, an award that was announced weeks after the president was not named the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.
