In order to get the series back to Milwaukee, the Brewers need two wins in Los Angeles. The day off was key for a Brewers pitching staff. Milwaukee used 6 pitchers in game one and 6 pitchers in Game 2. The Dodgers, on the other hand, have relied on the bullpen to cover just one inning in two games. 2. A new legal fight over the White House moves to fire federal workers on the 16th day of the government shutdown. As for who is being paid and who isn't, the President has authorized measures to pay the troops and members of the FBI, but thousands of workers, including air traffic controllers still going without pay. Nearly 750,000 federal workers have been furloughed and ordered not to report to work.

3. Some retailers are running into problems as the Treasury Department winds down production of the penny. The only Wisconsin retailer confirmed to no longer accept pennies for cash transactions is Kwik Trip. Due to a national penny shortage, the convenience store chain announced a new "cash rounding" policy. For cash purchases at its Wisconsin and other regional locations, Kwik Trip rounds down to the nearest five cents. For example, a cash total of $1.04 would be rounded down to $1.00.

1. Wisconsin newlyweds found dead in Illinois. The two were just days away from celebrating their first anniversary. 30-year-old Brandon Dumovich and 29-year-old Rachel Dumovich of Sharon, Wisconsin were found shot to death in their car. An officer discovered the couple (last Monday) along Route 14 in Harvard, Illinois. Investigators say each had a single gunshot wound and a firearm was recovered from the car. The Harvard Police Department is investigating this as a possible murder-suicide, but nothing has been ruled out yet. Rachel Dumovich was a graduate of UWM. She graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration. She also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee. Brandon Dumovich had just turned 30 the day before. He served in the U.S. Navy.

2. New location, same goal! The Milwaukee Brewers are in Los Angeles this afternoon, getting ready for tomorrow night's game. The stakes are getting higher. The Brewers have now lost the first TWO games of the NLCS. Brewers Manager Pat Murphy says don't count Milwaukee out yet. This is a best of seven series, so the Brewers can still make this happen. The first team to win four games moves on to the World Series! First pitch tomorrow night for Game 3 at Dodger Stadium is 5:08.

The only way the series gets back to Milwaukee is if the Brewers win two in LA.

2. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is hinting another rate cut is likely before the end of the year. Speaking at the National Association of Business Economics (NABE) in Philadelphia, Powell noted a slowdown in hiring that poses a growing risk to the U.S. economy, despite inflation concerns. It is possible rates could be shaved at the Feds upcoming meeting October 28 and 29th. Powell's remarks caused stocks to rally in late day trading on Tuesday with all the indices closing out in the green.

3. Another round of job cuts are reportedly coming to Amazon. ‘Fortune’ reports that the Seattle-based eCommerce giant is planning to cut corporate positions, with heavy cuts in Amazon's Human Resources division. Amazon earlier this year laid off employees in its Books division which includes the Kindle, as well in Devices and Services, Amazon Web Services, and communications. Amazon is cutting costs as it looks to fulfill its plan to spend more than $100-billion dollars this year on cloud and AI data center growth, with CEO Andy Jassy having said recently that AI will likely shrink some white-collar positions in the coming years.
