Unsuspecting consumers, particularly those living in regions of the country unaffected by hurricanes or flooding, are often fooled by fresh upholstery, new carpeting, and bargain prices. How can you avoid falling victim?

1. An investigation that started as a probe into threats involving someone the Secret Service protects has uncovered an operation that officials believe could have disabled cellular towers across New York City. Those threats were tracked to locations around New York City where investigators seized servers and other equipment capable of sending millions of text messages every minute.

2. Jimmy Kimmel Live!” returns to ABC tonight, the network ending a nearly week-long standoff over the late-night talk show. The show had been "pre-empted indefinitely" last week following comments Kimmel made on the show in response to the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Sinclair issues a statement confirming it will not air Kimmel's return on its 35 ABC affiliates and will replace the show with local news programming. Discussions between Sinclair and ABC are reportedly ongoing. Hearst Media owns and operates the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee.

3. Toys R Us is making a comeback! The retail chain that seemed to have drawn its last breath almost a decade ago is showing new signs of life. Toys R Us is planning to open 10 new flagship stores and add 20 seasonal holiday shops by the end of the year. We'll see if any of those seasonal shops end up in Wisconsin. Toys R Us filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and was sold in 2021.

1. President Trump just told several countries they're going to hell! The exchange happened while addressing world leaders today at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The President spent a large chunk of his speech criticizing the UN and accusing the body of promoting "empty words." He also mentioned his administration's immigration policy and said other nations should do what he's implemented. President Trump started his speech by noting the teleprompter wasn't working. He also mentioned the broken elevator at the UN building. So, serious topics with a little pinch of randomness thrown into that speech. The President spoke for about an hour. Despite his criticism of the UN during his address, in a meeting afterwards President Trump said our country is behind the United Nations 100 percent.

2. Closing arguments and deliberations today in the trial of the man accused of trying to assassinate Donald Trump at his golf course last year. The prosecution has claimed that Routh spent weeks meticulously planning his attack, including researching Trump's movements, acquiring a military-style rifle, and using burner phones. Routh argued that because no shot was fired, he did not have the intent to kill. He has also attempted to argue that the letter he wrote did not describe the alleged assassination attempt.

3. The new book from Former Vice President "Kamala Harris" is out today. It's called "107 Days." In the book, the former 2024 presidential nominee reflects on her campaign and the moments before and after. Harris sat down with ABC's Michael Strahan to discuss the new book. She talked about why she didn't initially bring up her concerns to then President Biden when he first wanted to run for re-election. Harris also talked about why she wanted to write the book. She said the 2024 election is part of American history and she wanted to make sure her voice would be a part of that conversation.

ABC News Medical Unit Sony Salzman talks about how President Trump is scheduled to speak at the White House today about medical findings related to children. A White House official told ABC News to expect a "historic" announcement related to Autism. Speaking at a dinner held by the American Cornerstone Institute on Sunday, President Trump appeared to claim that his administration has found the cause, “And I think we have the answer, and I think it's going to be very strongly given,” Trump said. Earlier this year, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. pledged to find the cause of autism by September while earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal reported that Kennedy's forthcoming report on Autism causes will suggest that the painkiller acetaminophen (common brand: Tylenol) may be linked to neurodevelopmental disorders in children.

1. Cases of COVID-19 are growing in five states, including Wisconsin. Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, New York, and Delaware are seeing an increase in COVID infections, according to the latest CDC data. Here in Wisconsin, The Department of Health Services issued a statewide order that allows most Wisconsinites who want the vaccine to get it at pharmacies across the state without a prescription. DHS continues to recommend the COVID-19 vaccine for Wisconsinites six months and older this fall.

2. Sometimes when you lose, you still win, that's the case for the Milwaukee Brewers. Despite a Sunday afternoon loss to the Cardinals in St Louis earn a third-straight NL Central division title, thanks to the Reds four-game sweep of the Cubs. And that prompted a champagne celebration in the clubhouse. But there is still more to play for! The Brewers have a magic number of three to lock down the top overall seed in the National League playoffs. Six games to play: Three against the Padres in San Diego beginning tonight. And one final home series against the Reds to round out the regular season.
