1. A landmark case and now with a historic fine. Amazon agrees to settle a lawsuit saying it tricked people into Prime. Prime generates billions of dollars for Amazon. Remember it started as just an "add-on" for fast delivery. Now you get 'streaming entertainment' with Prime, grocery delivery, and subscriber-only deals.

2. A positive sign in the housing market...sort of. The latest government report says new home sales last month jumped 20 percent compared to July. That's a bigger increase than expected, and a three- year high. Locally, home sales in the Metro Milwaukee Market were essentially flat from August of 2024 according to data from the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors. Home prices in the Metro area are up 5.9% to an average price of nearly $449,000. The 10 most expensive U.S. metro areas to buy a home, half are in California. The median home price in San Jose is $1.6 million dollars. Seattle, Honolulu, Bridgeport CT, Boston and New York are also on the list.

3. Pink Slips for green aprons! Some Starbucks workers will soon be getting the boot. The Seattle-based coffee chain just announced another round of store closings and layoffs. No word yet on which under-performing stores will close. 400 sounds like a lot, and it is, especially when you're talking about all the workers who will lose their jobs, but in the big picture of Starbucks' world, it's only one percent of the company's stores.

1. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is pausing abortions starting next month. The group tells WTMJ the change starts October 1st. The pause comes as Planned Parenthood tries to find a way to provide the service under President Trump's recently enacted budget bill. A provision in that bill deprives Planned Parenthood and its members of Medicaid funding. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin tells us it's trying to see as many patients as possible before the law takes effect. It's also working to refer patients to other outlets that perform abortions.

2. President Trump is expected to sign a deal today that would keep TikTok running in the United States. The algorithm is essentially, on lease from ByteDance to Oracle who will work to mimic its wizardry, but Wired Magazine's Senior Writer Zie-Yee Yung believes the user experience could differ slightly. The app's features, such as video creation tools, filters, and sounds, are expected to function as they do now. Oracle is a behind-the-scenes data and security partner, not a developer of consumer-facing features.

3. You know what you end up doing on Tik Tok? You "doomscroll." And "doomscroll" happens to be on one of the five-thousand words included in a rare update of the Merriam Webster collegiate dictionary.

ABC News Correspondent Jim Ryan talks about how local and federal investigators are gathering information on a possible sniping incident at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility in Texas. On social media, Homeland Security Sec. Kristi Noem confirmed the violence at the ICE facility in Dallas. ABC affiliate WFAA reports that two detainees were killed. Noem says the shooter has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Jim also explains how over the course of 2024, tens of millions of AT&T customers had personal information, including addresses and social security numbers leaked onto the “dark web.” The telecommunications giant has denied any mishandling of its customers’ personal data but has agreed to pay out millions to settle claims from a class-action lawsuit. The deadline for people who think they may be eligible for a payment from AT&T is approaching.

1. Family members of those who lost their lives in the midair crash between an Army helicopter, and an American Airlines passenger plane - are filing a lawsuit today. The wrongful death lawsuit names American and the regional carrier PSA, as well as the military and the FAA as being negligent and crowding lots of air traffic into Washington, DC's airspace.

2. The deadline is Nov. 18th for AT&T customers whose data was leaked last year to claim part of a 177-million-dollar settlement. Customers whose personal information made it onto the dark web after a March 30th, 2024 data breach could get up to five-thousand dollars. Those affected by a cyberattack four months later could get 25-hundred. Some people affected by both leaks could collect 75-hundred dollars, but they all must be able to document their losses.
