Newsradio WWJ Detroit Reporter Charlie Langton talks about how authorities now say at least five people were killed when a former U.S. Marine opened fire during a service at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church in Grand Blanc Township near Flint, Michigan. The gunman drove a pick-up truck into the church and started shooting before setting the building on fire. Police shot and killed the 40-year old suspected gunman who lived in a nearby community. As of right now, there is still no motive.

MMAC Senior Advisor MMAC Tim Sheehy talks about how a new study proposed by the Wisconsin Center District to look at “best use” of the land that is home to the Miller High Life Theatre, and the Panther Arena. Tim also shares the expected impact of the new H-1B visas policy on Wisconsin companies and “fans” heckling in the Ryder Cup over the weekend and whether it’s part of the game or part of a growing loss of civility.

1. The suspect in the killing of Charlie Kirk appears for a court hearing in Utah. He appeared remotely. The hearing lasted only about ten minutes, and Tyler Robinson did not enter a plea. Prosecutors told the court the amount of evidence discovered is “voluminous” and because of that, the defense said it will not be ready to proceed with a preliminary hearing in the near future. That date could be set when both sides are back in court October 30th. A detention hearing date may also be scheduled then which will determine whether Robinson qualifies for bail.

2. Playoff preparations are underway at American Family Field after the Brewers closed out a record-setting regular season Sunday afternoon. Jeff Levering with the call Sunday afternoon as the Brewers closed out the regular season with a 4-2 win over the Reds, earning their 97th win of the season. From 0 and 4 to 97 and 65 and the best run differential in all of baseball. The next time the Brewers take the field will be Saturday. Games one and two and potentially game 5 of the NLDS will take place in Milwaukee. The Brewers will conduct a team work out on Tuesday, with their opponent to be determined this week. It will be either the Padres or Cubs. That wild card series begins Tuesday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

3. It's the talk of Wisconsin today: The weird way the Packers game ended last night: a tie, in overtime. The Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys played 60 minutes of regulation and 10 minutes of overtime. But after all that, the Packers’ record is now 2-1-and 1.

Film Producer & Director of Kirkpatrick & Kinslow Productions Russ Kirkpatrick talks about how a new film now streaming puts a face to FTD, a rare form of dementia. The film is titled “Susan” and follows her story in the years between her FTD diagnosis and death. Why did you get involved in this film? What have you learned throughout the process? How can people watch the film?

1. Coming out on Tuesday, a new book written by Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride. It’s titled, “A City on the Edge: Pandemic, Protest, and Polarization”. The book looks back at 2020. A year unlike any other: a pandemic, nationwide protests over racial justice, political division, and a high-stakes presidential race. All those forces collided in communities across the country, including Wauwatosa.

2. Jimmy Kimmel Live! is coming back to more TV stations. Earlier this week, Jimmy Kimmel's talk show returned to air after the show was pulled following comments about the suspect in conservative activist Charlie Kirk's death earlier this month. But several stations owned by Sinclair Broadcasting independently chose to keep the show pre-empted. Now, it appears the show will be back tonight. Sinclair owns roughly 40 ABC affiliate stations in the U.S., including one in Washington, D.C. Fellow ownership group Nexstar still has not lifted a boycott.

ABC News Business Reporter Soo Youn talks about how according to a report from the US Census Bureau, from 2014 - 2024 the number of women without children increased across every age group with one exception: women between the ages of 45 and 50. In 2024, 97.8% of teens ages 15 to 19 were childless, up from 95.9% in 2014, confirming previous research that showed declining teen pregnancies and births in recent years. In 2014, about 75% of women ages 20 to 24 had not had children. By 2024, that figure had jumped to 85%. One possible reason: these findings suggest that young adults today prioritize economic security over starting a family, reflecting the rising burden of housing, food, gas and other costs. Will this trend continue?

1. A new round of tariffs and the impact on you! President Trump's announcement of new tariffs on pharmaceuticals, kitchen cabinets, and big-rig trucks is already creating concerns among businesses and governments abroad. The President announced a 100% tariff on pharmaceutical products starting October 1st, unless the manufacturing plants are made here in the U.S. If the president and the administration do go through with this, it could significantly raise the costs of those pharmaceutical drugs.

2. Mysterious drones are back in the news again, this time in Europe! The latest drone reports came after Copenhagen Airport was forced to close for several hours on Monday night, as was Oslo Airport in southern Norway. Recall late last year, when there were several sightings of similarly mysterious drones near the Newark Airport in New Jersey. Over 5,000 tips were investigated in that case, but the FBI found no national security risk. As for the European drones, the official origin or purpose of the drone flights is not yet clear.

3. A new list of the most stressful airports is out! We all know Milwaukee Mitchell isn't on that list. According to a new ranking from CBD company, Mood.com, Chippewa Valley Regional Airport in Wisconsin is the fourth most stressful airport. They say arrivals at Chippewa Valley Regional routinely land more than an hour late. Colorado's Aspen/Pitkin Airport was named the most stressful airport in the country, with almost 9% of its flights cancelled and average departure delays topping 45 minutes.
