1. The National Weather Service confirms at least two tornadoes from yesterday's severe weather. Teams are out across southern Wisconsin surveying more damage now. Both tornados confirmed so far were EF-0s. One touched down in Dodge County, between Hustisford and Waupun. The other twister touched down just north of Beaver Dam. It could take crews until at least Monday to survey all of the areas impacted.

2. A Waukesha County judge will approve the conditional release plan for “Slenderman” defendant Morgan Geyser. This means Geyser is approved for release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute, where she has been held for seven years. Specific details of the release could be sorted out by the end of the week. Judge Wagner would then allow three days for any objections to the plan to be filed before ordering his final approval. Once approved by the judge, Geyser would be released to the residential placement facility in early August. In March, The Wisconsin Department of Health Services petitioned to revoke Geyser's conditional release. Geyser, along with Anisa Weir, were 12-years old when they stabbed their classmate, nearly killing her back in 2014. At the time, the two girls said they committed the crime to please a fictional character known as Slenderman.

3. After the longest floor vote in the chamber's history, the House managed to advance three bills on cryptocurrency. That's despite heavy pushback within the Republican party. The House floor was paralyzed because there were hardline Republicans who had serious concerns about what's called a central bank digital currency, essentially a digital asset taking the place of the U.S. dollar and those hardline Republicans saying that they've got serious privacy concerns with that. There's no plan in the works for that; this bill doesn't talk about that. But they say this bill doesn't do enough to prevent the emergence of that possible fear that they have.

ABC News Contributer Caleb Silver talks about how an uptick in inflation quashed investors' hopes that the Federal Reserve would reduce its influential interest rate when the central bank's policy committee next meets. Inflation rose in June, up 2.7% year-over-year, according to a report released Tuesday morning by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That's far higher than the Fed's goal of 2% inflation each year. Flaring inflation could make it harder for the Fed to cut its influential federal funds rate. Higher interest rates are designed to stifle inflation and slow the economy by increasing interest rates on all kinds of loans. The Fed has been holding its interest rate at a higher-than-usual level since January, keeping upward pressure on borrowing costs for all kinds of loans. Fed officials have been reluctant to cut interest rates out of concern that tariffs will reignite the high inflation that took hold after the pandemic. The uptick in inflation was driven by a range of higher prices. The cost of gasoline rose 1% just from May to June, while grocery prices increased 0.3%. Appliance prices jumped for the third straight month. Toys, clothes, audio equipment, shoes, and sporting goods all got more expensive. All are heavily imported. A host of major retailers, including Walmart and Best Buy, has warned about potential price hikes as a result of Trump's levies.

1. There is a tornado on the ground west of Madison right now. That's according to WTMJ Meteorologist Craig Koplein. He tells us it's headed towards Sauk City next. Important for all of us to note: a tornado watch is now in effect for all of Southeast Wisconsin until 6pm.

2. You know about the CPI, but are you familiar with the PPI? The recent consumer price index shows a slight uptick in inflation, don't expect the Fed to lower interest rates in July. The PPI also reflects inflation, but not at the consumer level. According to the latest inflation report, President Trump's tariff policies are beginning to affect prices on everything from groceries to appliances and home furnishings. Economic worries are keeping would-be homebuyers on the sidelines.

3. It's up in the air as to whether President Trump will fire Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. The President says he's frustrated with the Fed's decision to keep interest rates where they are for now. Powell has said the uncertainty in tariff policy and stubbornly high prices for some goods and services has led the Fed to not cut interest rates. Powell's term as Fed chair ends next year. Today President Trump said he had a meeting with some Republican lawmakers who are supportive of firing Powell. The decision to cut interest rates isn't made by Powell alone. It's made with a vote from a panel of 12 other experts and Federal Reserve Bank presidents from other parts of the country.
