1. It's day two of testimony in the Maxwell Anderson trial in Milwaukee. Anderson is accused of killing and dismembering 19-year-old Sade Robinson after a first date in April 2024. The first witness called today was a detective with the Milwaukee Police Department. Detective Nora Donegan performed the welfare check at Robinson's apartment. She said she started piecing things together and knew something wasn't right. Two of Robinson's friends also testified today. Robinson had shared her location with both, using various phone apps. The 19-year-old's remains were found scattered across Milwaukee County. One body part also turned up along the shoreline in Waukegan, Illinois. The trial is expected to last for two weeks.

2. A federal court is blocking President Trump's tariffs ruling that Trump overstepped his authority under the law. The court, ruling in two separate cases, issued a summary judgment throwing out all the tariffs Trump imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act In a related story, The Trump administration is appealing last night's ruling. The administration argues that trade deficits constitute a national emergency. So, where does it go from here? The case will likely proceed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and potentially the Supreme Court. Not surprising that tech stocks are doing very well today.

1. Witnesses testifying at the Maxwell Anderson trial in Milwaukee today include investigators and friends of Sade Robinson. Anderson is accused of killing and dismembering Robinson after a first date in April 2024. Evelyn Geurts was the third witness to take the stand today. She worked with Robinson at the Wisconsin Club. Geurts highlighted who Robinson was and you could tell this was tough for her. Geurts and Robinson had shared their locations with each other using an iPhone app. Geurts checked it the day Robinson went missing. She said it last showed her friend at Warnimont Park in Cudahy at 4AM. That park is where one of Robinson's legs was found. The trial is expected to last for two weeks.

2. A $50 million hotel proposed in downtown Milwaukee's Deer District wins city approval. The 7-story, 156-room Moxy Hotel would be developed by the Milwaukee Bucks and NCG Hospitality and be erected on the footprint of the former Bradley Center. The Common Council's Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee recommended zoning approval. The full council will review the plans on June 3rd. Among those supporting the idea are 16 unions and other labor organizations, mainly in the trades. Opponents, such as Alderman Bob Baumann, believe the proposed hotel is too small and lacks amenities.

3. Elon Musk's time as a “Special Government Employee” is about to end, and he made clear his intention to return to focusing on the core businesses that make him the richest person in the world. The DOGE efforts cut the federal workforce but polls showed Americans were concerned about the way firings and goverment agency shutdowns were carried out. Tesla's image has suffered, as a result. And in an interview with CBS News to be broadcast this weekend, Musk criticized the "One Big Beautiful Bill" legislation passed by the House as not cutting the workforce enough and increasing U.S. debt by several trillion dollars.

2. 156 of the best in Women's golf are at Erin Hills today for round one of the 80th US Women's Open. 24 of the top 25 ranked players in the World make up the field, including World #1, Nelly Korda. Also among the field of 156 are 14 teenagers, three of whom are 16 years old. By 2039, Erin Hills will play host to 5 additional USGA Sanctioned championship events, all amateur. The next open date on the calendar for the Men's US Open is 2043. The next open date on the calendar for the Women's US Open is 2037. The last time the US Women's Open was played in Wisconsin was 2012 at Blackwolf Run in Kohler.

3. The Trump administration is appealing last night's ruling by a New York-based federal court that stops most of the president's tariffs. Investors cheered when the federal court halted President Trump's tariffs, but not overwhelmingly. Gains are somewhat muted because now we know the administration is appealing the ruling, and the bottom line is there's uncertainty.
