ABC News Technology Reporter Mike Dobuski talks about how Temu is putting its “shop like a billionaire” slogan to the test. Over the weekend, the Chinese e-commerce site started raising prices on many of its items. Shein, another online retailer, has been doing the same. It comes after the companies released identical statements earlier this month announcing plans to pass along some of the tax burden from “global trade rules and tariffs” to shoppers. “To keep offering the products you love without compromising on quality, we will be making price adjustments,” a joint statement reads. But Chinese e-commerce sites aren’t the only companies making news in the world of low-cost technology. CMF is showing off a new budget phone and accessories, the Jeff Bezos-backed Slate Auto pulled the wraps off a very basic (but very cheap) electric truck, and Mike’s been spending some time with one of the lowest-cost new EVs on the market.

1. A tornado hit near Augusta, Wisconsin in Eau Claire County last night. So far, there are reports of damage to several farm buildings, a couple cabins, and at least one home. The National Weather Service has teams out assessing the damage today. We expect those reports to come in later this afternoon. Here in southeastern Wisconsin, we dodged the nasty weather, and that was something we knew was a big possibility.

2. Consumer confidence slipping for the fifth straight month. Rising prices, particularly for imported goods, are a major concern for consumers. The consumer confidence index fell 7.9 points in April to 86, its lowest reading since May 2020. Another contributing factor to the decline: The Labor Market. While the labor market remains relatively strong, concerns about job security and the possibility of future layoffs are a sticking point. The wallets usually do the talking in situations like this. Lower consumer confidence can lead to a decrease in consumer spending as people become more cautious about spending.

3. Today, President Donald Trump marks 100 days in office. 100 days of his second term. Could there be a third? President Trump has hinted at a possible third term. But a new ABC News/Washington Post/IPSOS poll finds Americans are largely against it. President Trump denies asking the Justice Department to look at ways he might remain in office past a second term, but he also declined to say he wouldn't do so in the future.

1. Today marks day 100 of Donald Trump's second presidency. To mark the occasion, President Trump will head to Warren, Michigan where he'll give a speech. Michigan is a state that went for Joe Biden in 2020, but Trump took back in 2024. In the 100 days since the President was inaugurated for a second time, there's been major changes including economic policy, immigration, and foreign relations. Since taking the oath of office, the President has governed largely by executive orders - 142 in total. The White House put out a memo today marking the President's First 100 days in office. Some of the highlights: It says... President Trump has added 345-thousand jobs since taking office in January. Prescription drug prices are down more than two percent. The memo also notes retail egg price inflation continues to slow. A new state-by-state map of approval ratings shows Trump remains strong in deep-red states, but faces major disapproval in Democratic strongholds.

3. UPS just announced sweeping layoffs. The company's shareholders like it. Its workers do not. UPS is calling it "Network Reconfiguration and Efficiency Reimagined." No matter what you call it: It means unemployment for about 20 thousand workers. UPS also plans to close 73 of its leased and owned buildings by the end of June. The CEO told investors the moves will save UPS three-and-a-half (b) billion dollars.
