1. FEMA is gone, as their field assessments in Wisconsin are complete. Six FEMA teams spent days in Wisconsin assessing damage from our historic flooding this month. Four teams went door to door in Milwaukee County. Another team took on Waukesha County. And the fourth assessed the damage in Washington County. The state will now take FEMA's information and determine whether federal aid is needed. If so, the state will put in its request. The president then reviews that request and decides whether federal aid is necessary. If yes, a federal disaster is declared.
2. Happening right now in Milwaukee. Milwaukee's urgent sheltering task force is speaking out on the need for additional areas of shelter for those affected by recent flooding in southeastern Wisconsin. Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, Couty Executive David Crowley, Fire Chief Aaron Lipski and others are gathered at the 800 block of 27th street. The City of Milwaukee has seen a decline in available sheltering options for those displaced by fires and other unplanned disasters as well as trained volunteers to staff them. What is required for a facility to be considered a Red Cross Shelter? 4-5,000 square feet and an open are to accommodate at least 50 people. Restroom and handwashing facilities. Access to kitchen/food preparation area. ADA Accessibility preferred. Use of space 24/7 up to 4 weeks.
3. “Quiet Cracking” is a new trend taking hold at the office. A new report from the app Resume Builder finds the trend of employees doing the bare minimum on the job has given way to workers who suffer from a persistent feeling of unhappiness. That leads to disengagement, poor performance and an increased desire to quit.
